This past week, the Board of Directors of the Littleton Consumer Cooperative Society, Inc. reached an agreement to purchase the site on the corner of Cottage Street and Bethlehem Road (Route 302) in Littleton -- across from the old hospital, and just off Exit 41 of Route 93. Watch for our sign!
We conducted an exhaustive analysis of all available and suitable sites in the Littleton area. With the help of our market research firm, the good people from the Hanover Co-op, and other professionals, we worked to make sure that the land cost and our proposed building "fit" into our business plan and to insure that our analysis and our assumptions made sense. We believe this site will be an excellent location for our Store!
With a site now selected, and our financial projections carefully developed and reviewed by industry and financial professionals, we begin the hard work of raising the necessary funding for the store. The Co-op's funding will come from a range of sources:
- Membership fees from members like you (Thank you!)
- Donations and/or loans to the Co-op from our members
- Grant monies that we believe to be available to projects like our Co-op, and for which we are in the process of applying
- Special financing available to Co-ops at attractive terms from organizations such as the Cooperative Fund of New England, and others
- Regular commercial financing from our neighborhood and regional banks

In order for us to complete the site purchase, to begin the engineering and permitting work, and to start construction next spring, we need your help!
If you haven't already become a member, please do so today! Forms and instructions are available at our website www.LittletonCoop.org. Also, tell your friends and neighbors about the Store, so they can also join.
Make a donation, purchase additional membership shares, or make a loan to the Co-op. This will help show the commitment the community has for this project and will help us obtain other sources of funding. We'll be having an informational meeting about the Co-op Friday, November 16, 5:30 PM at the Littleton Elks Club, Bethlehem Road (Route 302), Littleton.
At that meeting we will vote on our new by-laws. We have posted our by-laws at our website for your review and approval.
