For most people vacation time is here, but there's no time
off for the Co-op Board as what was once the dream of a store now begins to
take shape!
|
|
MEMBERSHIP BUILDS |
|
|
To date, the Co-op has over 250 shareholders representing a
wide range of communities:
from our New Hampshire towns of Littleton, Lyman, Lisbon,
Franconia, Easton, Groveton, Warren, Dalton, Jefferson, Bath, North Haverhill, Twin Mountain,
Thornton and Durham; to our Vermont neighbors in Lyndonville, Monroe,
Norwich, Waterford, E. Burke and Concord.
The Board is pleased and grateful for
our community support and is anxious to commence a vigorous fundraising
campaign once the store location has been secured.

and voted to support the Co-op application for a CDFA grant. |
NEW LOGO
|
|
It's the middle of the hot days of summer....great for all
the gardens. Perhaps you've already
noticed in this newsletter that the Co-op has harvested its own veggie for a
new logo...we hope you'll be seeing this logo "out and about" in the coming
weeks.

MEG ASSET MANAGEMENT,
INC. APPOINTED EXCLUSIVE AGENT
|
|
|
The ink is still drying on the agreement between MEG Asset
Management, Inc. of Londonderry,
NH, and the Littleton Co-op that appoints MEG as
its Buyer's Agent. Brian Morrriseau, President of MEG, has extensive experience
in the supermarket real estate field and has also been employed by a number of New Hampshire entities including DHMC and Dartmouth College.
His expertise and creativity will assist the Co-op Board in the process
of structuring and negotiating an offer on the preferred location.

|
PROJECT ENGINEERING
|
|
|
As work proceeds on securing the site, the Board initiated
contact and has received a proposal for engineering services from Horizons
Engineering of Littleton. The contents
of the proposal are being refined so that the Co-op will be prepared to step
directly into the engineering phase as soon as the property is under agreement.

|
CO-OP BY-LAWS
|
|
|
Several months of research and writing has resulted in the
final copy of the Littleton Consumer Cooperative Society, Inc. By-Laws. The multi-page document defines the
parameters of governance, business practices, membership, capital,
distributions, meetings, board members and their duties under which the Co-op
will operate. The ratification of the
By-Laws is a necessary piece in securing grants and financing, so the Board will
be asking members for ratification soon.

|
HANOVER CO-OP
|
|
The Littleton Board continues to receive invaluable support
and advice from the Hanover Co-op. In the true cooperative spirit, they have
made themselves available to review, comment, and guide the Board on all
aspects of the process of bringing the Littleton
store to life.

|
CAN YOU HELP? |
|
|
As the Board works toward securing the location, efforts are
also underway to create an army of volunteers to work on the major fundraising
drive that will begin shortly. If you
have expertise in this area, or want to contribute your energies in any way,
large or small, please use this website to let us know how and what you can do,
and a committee team leader will be in touch with you. We know you're anxious to hear the news...and the Board
promises that as soon as those tricky "I"s and "T"s are dotted and crossed on
all the paperwork, the news of the Littleton Consumer Cooperative location will
hit the streets!
Thank you for your continued support!
