Greetings!

November is traditionally a transitional month from the golden light of autumn and the remnants of Indian summer to the waning light and colder temperatures of early winter. This month's news highlights the Brain Neuroplasticity teleseminar with Dr. Bob Scaer on Tuesday, November 9, and the Resource Tapping teleseminar on Saturday, December 4. Our "News You Can Use" section (scroll down to find this article or click on the sidebar) features Quantum Healing for Pain.

Wishing you the best of the Thanksgiving season,

Beginning this month, we are offering U.S. professionals CEU's (continuing education units) thanks to our new partnership with R. Cassidy seminars. After you enroll in a specific seminar, you will be given an option to pay an additional fee, which will allow you to take a posttest and print out your CEU certificate after the event is complete. Unless otherwise specified, eligible professionals can earn 2.0 CE credits by participating in each of our teleseminars.

On Tuesday, November 9, from 9 am - 10:30 am Pacific time, please join Dr. Robert Scaer and me for a dynamic seminar on Brain Neuroplasticity: Quantum Changes in the Treatment of Trauma and Pain. Our topics  include:

  • Reward pathways and how they influence new pathways for change
  • How the brain repairs itself through the mechanisms of neuroplasticity
  • Epigenetic research: Understanding how new experiences can change our DNA and how old experiences in the form of epigenomes can switch on or off genes
  • Specific strategies that promote healing and health
  • How principles of brain plasticity provide a template for intervening to predict and prevent later problems for kids, for aging adults, and other populations

Learn more about Bob Scaer at www.traumasoma.com. Sign up for this event now, so you won't miss this exceptional opportunity, at www.maggiephillipsphd.com/courses_teleseminars_drs.html

The deadline for attending live is midnight Pacific on Sunday, November 7. Remember that your $50 fee includes unlimited permanent audio access (your choice of audio streaming or mp3 download for your ipod or listening device), a study guide to organize your learning, and the opportunity to submit your questions and topical interests to us, either in advance www.maggiephillipsphd.com/courses_interactive_drs.html or live in the 30 minute Q&A session following our 60 minute presentation.

"Highlights," an edited version of the complete teleseminar transcript, which is highly recommended if you plan to qualify for CEU's, is available for an additional $15. This resource will help you integrate the high density of the information we will be presenting. You must sign up and pay for this option in advance of the seminar.

We are also excited and appreciative that Dr. Bellaruth Naparstek (www.healthjourneys.com ) has publicized this event to her internet community. From our point of view, this suggests that other experts recognize the unique quality of the material we will be presenting.

Our last seminar of this calendar year will be a special one with Dr. Laurel Parnell. On Saturday, December 4, from 10 am - 11:30 am Pacific time, Laurel and I will present a teleseminar on Resource Tapping: Activating Your Healing Potentials Through Bilateral Stimulation. This seminar will illustrate tapping in resources through the bilateral stimulation approach used in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitzation and Reprogramming).

Our presentations will focus on how Laurel's "Tapping In" techniques can help rebalance the nervous system, activate the parasympathetic restoration cycle, and teach self-regulation to resolve many of the symptoms connected with the pain of trauma. For more information about Laurel, popular EMDR facilitator and author of Tapping In: A Step-by Step Guide to Activating Your Healing Resources With Bilateral Stimulation, please visit her website at www.emdrinfo.com. QUANTUM HEALING FOR PAIN

Are you aware that 21.6 million Americans (or more than one in ten adults) take prescription pain medications regularly for chronic pain? And that nearly nine out of ten pain sufferers take pain medication at least once per day and are likely to continue for long periods of time? More than 3 out of 10 pain patients on medication complain about side effects or other problems that render prescriptions ineffective in coping with their pain problems.

Fortunately, as many as nine in ten physicians recommend some form of non-drug treatment for their pain patients. Making use of alternative therapies makes it possible to shift from managing pain to actually treating what might be causing or maintaining pain so that patients can actually reverse their pain conditions.

Research in the area of quantum physics suggests that everything in our physical world, including the human body, is formed from energy, which is constantly moving. Although we perceive our bodies as solid and composed of blood, tissue, and bone, every aspect of our physical selves resonates with energy vibration and flow. Many of the principles from quantum healing perspectives arise from energy healing methods such as acupuncture, acupressure, reiki, qi gong, and Energy Psychology approaches. In my opinion, these principles must be applied at the heart of healing practices regardless of the techniques used.

Quantum principles include:

· Our right to live a high quality life that is not constricted by pain, to feel well-being, and to experience optimum health. We have the technology, which includes the use of energy-based therapies, to treat the root causes of pain -- whether they are the result of injury, structural misalignment, past emotional/psychological trauma, or energy toxins, among other factors.

· Our bodies have the capacities to heal themselves and to achieve pain-free states. I've lost count of the numbers of pain patients who have been told that there is nothing more that can be done for them and that they need to accept their medical diagnosis and the amount of pain that accompanies it. Such a statement reflects the limitations of western medicine. Most professionals who work with pain can cite countless examples of individuals with the same diagnosis, xrays, and MRI results who have very different healing responses. I challenge my clients to become part of the top ten percent of pain patients who transcend their diagnoses to live a comfortable and sometimes pain-free life.

· Every individual is unique in terms of how they heal. People in pain want to know exactly how they will respond to surgery, medications and other interventions. This appraisal is requested to help them feel safe; unfortunately, it's virtually impossible to give. Some medical professionals and other practitioners fall into the trap of reassuring their patients, only to find that their predictions, whether positive or negative, prove to be inaccurate. Far better, in my opinion, is to create an atmosphere where exploration and experimentation can take place with careful monitoring and evaluation to determine the results in order to set further goals for healing.

· Energy follows thought. The ways in which we learn to direct our life force energy are related to our intentions for healing rather than technique. When we learn to direct our life-force energy in the direction of positive intentions, extraordinary healing transformation can occur.

· All healing is self-healing. Although this is undeniably true, it is important not to try to heal alone. We need help to create healing experiences that address bottom-up as well as top-down imbalances, and those that expand our relational experiences as well as our physical ones. Most experts agree that multi-modal approaches are needed to achieve complete and lasting outcomes, and in order to engage mind, body, heart and spirit for an integrated approach. One quantum healing method termed Quantum Touch (www.quantumtouch.com), for example, assists with healing by helping the practitioner lift his/her own energy vibrational levels to a very high level. When the client's body is brought into the presence of this higher energetic attunement, the body is then able to conduct its own healing process. The healer does not heal other people; instead the healer helps create and hold an energy field of resonance which allows people to heal themselves, and which can profoundly accelerate healing. This is why the healing relationship is essential to the healing process.

Also please visit my website www.reversingchronicpain.com, which features a highly effective and low-cost self-healing program (in online and coaching CD formats) that adheres to quantum principles.

Please join Dr. Robert Scaer and me for our teleseminar on brain neuroplasticity and quantum healing to learn more about this promising emerging field. Again, go to www.maggiephillipsphd.com/courses_teleseminars_drs.html and participate in our quantum leap!

As always, thanks for reading.
