Canadian Consul General Denis Stevens
Denis St evens joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1996, where he served as policy adviser to the minister of foreign affairs, deputy director in the Human Rights Division and director of policy in the Secretariat on War-Affected Children. Mr. Stevens has, since 2001, served in management positions at the departments of Justice, Indian and Northern Affairs, Public Safety, and at the Privy Council Office. Since 2007, he has been the director general of intergovernmental relations and public outreach at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. He is married to Geneviève Chanteloup, and they have two daughters. Mr. Stevens succeeds Peter Lloyd.
Dan Carol, Senior Fellow, NDN Senior Fellow Dan Carol serves as a strategic adviser to NDN's Electricity 2.0 and 21st Century Economy projects, focusing on bottom-up and regional innovation. Most recently, Carol served as the Content & Issues Director for the Obama for President Campaign, where he guided the launches of Obama's NewEnergyforAmerica.com plan and Clean Tech and Green Business Leaders for Obama (CT40).
A member of the Clinton Global Initiative and a co-founder of the Clean Economy Network, Carol currently teaches public policy at the University of Oregon. A founding contributor to the Huffington Post, his writings and commentary have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, C-Span, CNN and The Boston Review. Senator Mary Margaret Haugen, Chair of the Washington State Senate Transportation Committee Senator Haugen has served on the State Senate since 1993. Prior to that, she serve as a member of the House of Representatives from 1982-1992. She has been a part of many legislative committees, including chairing the Senate Transportation Committee. Sen. Haugen is married to Basil Badley, and is a lifetime resident of Camano Island.
Hon. Mel Knight, President of PNWER and Minister of Sustainable Resource Development, Alberta
Mel Knight was elected to his third term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Grande PrairieSmoky on March 3, 2008. Mr. Knight currently serves as Minister of Sustainable Resource Development. Previously, he served as Minister of Energy. Minister Knight began his term as President of Pacific NorthWest Economic Region in July 2010.
