I came up with the idea for "The Cleaner" when I found out that at a major London hospital, a database of its foreign workers is kept, so help with translation for foreign patients can be easily and quickly arranged.
So what would happen if a hospital cleaner were called upon to translate for an injured foreign man but the cleaner recognised the patient as a deadly enemy?

In the beginning of "Lesson in Humility" proud bank executive David is in his comfort zone as he talks down to some trainees. This is reflected through the editing by using low angle shots of David and high angle shots of the trainees. The editing pace in these first few minutes is rather slow and rhythmical, but this changes rapidly when he suddenly loses his job. In this scene the conflict between the two managers who fire him and David, now on his own, is reflected by the imbalance between the two-shot of the managers and the single of the protagonist.

When a film is submitted to a film festival included in the Annual Program Without Frontiers, it is also received by the Art Committee of the program.

We want to know about each film and each filmmaker working with us. Usually we grant Special Mentions and often we invite some films to be screened in major film festivals around the globe.

Congratulations to JD KELLEHER for his film "ONE LAST DRINK BEFORE MORNING", winner of the Prix special au meilleur film de fiction, at the 2008 Festival du Film de Strasbourg.

Sincerely,

Director
