My film wants to emphasize the issue whether a strong, dominating mother can replace an absent father for sons. I will also by a fictive story, though built and my own experiences, suggest what consequences missing fatherhood might have for sons.
The film was first a theatre play. However, we minimized the dialogue and made a short film that I hope manages to catch the essentials of the story by letting the pictures dominant the play.

A man on a bus, returning to his small hometown in the mountains after 17 years in Delhi. Called back by his father's best friend, now old and dying, who wants to leave him the house that he and the man's father built together.
Returning to Akhnoor, which for decades has been the target of attacks by insurgents, militants, terrorists - call them what you like, and has seen the death, wounding and scattering of its people - like the man on the bus and his parents, now dead.

Congratulations to Noel Kearns for his film "The Cleaner", winner of the Special Prize to the Best Short Film at the 2008 FESTIVAL DU CINEMA DE PARIS.

Sincerely,

Director
