Phil and I are delighted with Phil's award for photography. It's worth remembering that he also operated the camera, he actually shot the 17 min. take that became Green Pages. Those who have seen the film can appreciate what a hard task that was for him, as for everyone else; Eloise Parfitt had 26 different focal points to hit, during the take, many of them repeatedly.

One day the taxi driver Lennart Carlén gets an older gentleman into his car. They get acquainted and their friendship have unexpected effects. That is the start of my film Tysta rop (Hidden despair) which is about missing fatherhood and what consequences that might have for sons. It also emphasizes the question whether a strong mother can replace a missing father for sons. The young taxi driver is married to a beautiful and clever girl. They have two nice kids and everything seems perfect.

The Annual Program Without Frontiers has been invited, working this unforgettable twelve days for the independent cinema. An important conference on the future of cinema was held during the Festival at Baron Beach across from the Carlton Hotel. This panel was especially interesting, since we are currently at a time when new technologies are exploding and no one really knows how to handle it; I received a very interesting proposal for our Program in order to participate in new forms of online communication.

Congratulations to the Mexican director Elisa Miller, winner of the Palme d'Or for Best Short Film for "Ver Llover" (Watching it Rain) during the Festival de Cannes.

Sincerely,

Director
