Father's Day Service
As of yet I am not a father but it was a great honor to be invited to speak in a Father's Day service in El Rey de Gloria Church! In fact this was my first time ministering in said service. At first I was going to decline the invitation but after praying about it I felt good about this wonderful opportunity to speak into the lives of not only the fathers but each church member.
The title of my message was "THE FAITHFUL FATHER" with the focus being on God the Father with the following three point:
1. God wants us to recognize Him as Father
2. God wants us to recognize ourselves as sons and daughters
3. God is the FAITHFUL FATHER
Putting the emphasis on the Father God allowed me to be able to speak to everyone as a child of God and not just to the fathers in the service. I forgot to mention that this was a Sunday afternoon service, that was why I felt it was good to speak to everyone; knowing that the pastor had already ministered to the fathers in a more direct way in the Sunday morning services.
My Spanish is still not perfect but thank God each time I minister, without a translator, I get that much better. I still remember while at the Community Church in Arequipa being sent out on my own without a translator a little over four years ago, it was a bit scary. But God! God knew I needed to be able to minister, down the line, without using a translator. It has been a challenge but it has been great and exciting being able to minister by myself. I would however encourage those who are planning to go to the mission field that if you can take classes to help you before you get on the field it will be a tremendous blessing to you. When I arrived in Peru for the first time, back in 1994, I was kicking myself for not continuing my Spanish classes while in school!
Anyway, I don't know why I mentioned all of that but I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
