Sheron Smith Speaks to Single Mothers

Sheron Smith will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, participating in a panel discussion focusing on single mothers raising men.
On May 8, 2010, Sheron Smith will be participating in the Raising Him Alone Campaign. She will be joined by Dr. Brenda Greene (mother of rapper and activist Talib Kweli) in a panel discussion. The mothers will discuss their experiences raising sons into successful men.

Sheron Smith is the mother of Grammy nominated actor and rapper, Mos Def.
Sheron raised her family in one of Brooklyn's toughest neighborhoods, Roosevelt housing project. Smith is the author of the 2007 released, Shine Your Light: A Life Skills Workbook. Smith is a motivational speaker with a very powerful story with a great deal of experience to share. Sheron has been speaking all over the country about parenting, motivating youth and managing one of the most successful Hip Hop artist of our time.
Raising Him Alone (RHA) is dedicated to researching, designing, and
implementing a campaign to support the social well being of single
mothers raising boys. Through a series of intense community forums,
workshops and support group initiatives, RHA seeks to increase access
to resources in the areas of Health & Well Being (Mental Health),
Educational Support & Advocacy, as well as Financial Literacy.
