December Happenings
Greetings!

We held tryouts for the most holiday spirit in the barn and the top winners were pictured above.  There was a lot of bickering among the herd on who was the cutest, so we just gave it to billy the goat.  So with this e-blast, we will give the herd a few weeks off for the holidays as we look forward to seeing everyone in 2012!  From the Horses Help Family, we wish you and yours peace and happiness.  Give somebody a Hug and squeeze hard!

Arizona Cowboy Mounted Shooters Host our Kiddo's at the "Dare to Dream Shootout"

It all started years ago at the world finals of the National Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association at West World, when Diane Holmes contacted me about an idea to have some of our special needs kiddo's participate with the world finalists in a special program.   Well, at first I thought this lady was on some heavy medication, to think we would have our therapeutic riders brandish a six shooter, and oh by the way, shoot targets on the back of a special horse known as Nevada Joe. But Diane, explained the Dare to Dream idea, and we were hooked ever since.

Michelle Weed Called to Duty

Being the wife of a distinguished member of the military has to be hard, especially when it is transfer time.  None can be harder for all of us than this particular time.  Michelle has blessed Horses Help for the past year and half with her passion, professionalism, and heart. We knew one day she would be "Called to Duty" and the time has come to soon for the Horses Help Family. But knowing that she will return one day makes it a little easier to say aloha.  Michelle has delivered wonderful leadership by taking the reins as our Program Director.  She has been an integral part of our program development, instructor development and liaison to Path International.  We cannot thank Michelle, her husband Jeff, and her family for all they brought to the center, yes she even managed to get Jeff to shovel poo.  We will keep them in our prayers as she travels to Germany to reunite their family this holiday season.

Reaching our Goal
Our Financial Goal for the month of December is $5000.00.  We are off to a great start with amazing community partners like Henkel, who not only donated their time and talent for our new patio digs, but donated $1000 to boot.  Thank you to the Robbins family as well for their financial contribution!
Big Shout out to Mike Denny with MDI rock for donating the sand for our patio project and James DePriest with Surelight block for donating the pavers!

Just to let everyone know we also received a call from Tony Esposito letting us know that Best Buy is sending a special present with Santa to Horses Help.  A new security camera system!!!!  This is an amazing donation so that we can watch the herd when we are away, even check up on the goat in case they have escaped and eating our garden!
Best Buy is honoring the memory of Kathy Esposito (Tootles)a long time Horses Help Volunteer who for many years blessed our program with her passion for the children.  We know Tootles will be looking down with a smile knowing Horses Help will be a little bit safer from now on.
