Greetings!
Last year the heat played a factor in making our golf outing into an extreme sport. However, the climate gods smiled on us this year because the temperature was absolutely perfect. A strong field of 90 golfers joined us at Moon Valley CC for a wonderful day of intense competition. Horses Help would like to thank our guests, sponsors, volunteers and especially our Golf Committee for making this event one of the most successful in recent memory. |
| Cruise Give Away: Just a drop in the Bucket.
VHL, Vacations For Healthy Living, and their co sponsors, PCL Consulting and AZ Chapter National Safety Council, sponsored a Cruise Gift for the Golf Tournament, so we had to think long and hard on how to make this exciting. We wanted to hire a helicopter to fly over and make the drop but we are non profit so we saved several thousand dollars and got everyone involved. Each Player and all the volunteers participated in hurling 400 pre sold golf balls toward a target hole, and the ball closest to the target or the one that dropped in the hole first won the grand prize Cruise for 2. No one yelled fore and when the dust settled the winners were Carin Whitehurst, Peggie Porkorski and Sharon Massion!

| Tournament Fun!
Horses Help Charity Golf Tournament always demonstrates a bit of a different twist. Some of the unique games were putting contest through a saddle. Horse Shoe Toss into a sand bunker to lower your score for a ringer, the use of actual horse reins to measure putts, and of course Luna made her appearance and was wide eyed with all of the fresh green grass at her disposal.
Home Depot was generous enough to supply all of the First, Second and Third Place gifts, and there was an amazing amount of great raffle prizes which kept everyone on hand until the very end. When it was all said and done Horses Help raised 13k for our Center. We could have never done this without a tremendous community effort and an amazing group of sponsors.

Lastly, I want to personally thank Chris Styes for her leadership in directing this tournament. Her vigilance and dedication were among of the main factors in the success of this golf outing. Through all of this Chris lost her beloved husband and never wavered from her commitment. The Horses Help family, and the special needs community for which it serves, is a better place for having a person like Chris. We can never thank you enough, our hearts and prayers are with you.
Dream Big,
