The weather was just perfect as Special Olympics Arizona Equestrians took to the arenas at Horses Help Therapeutic Riding Center for a Valentine's Day show. Three delegations participated from the local area. This included Dusty Boots, Exceptional Equestrians, and our very own Horses Help.
Supported by a host of volunteers the riders competed in Showmanship, Bareback Equitation, Western Equitation, English equitation, Working Trail, and Dressage. Amy Roth, AzSo show director enlisted the help of some wonderful volunteer leaders who made the competition a resounding success. We wish to thank the following judges and stewards:
· Main Judge: Noreen Hart Kealer
· Ring Steward: Jim Hockenhull-Chris Rossiter-Jerry Stein
· Trail Judge: Terry Glander
· Announcer: Hugh Kealer
· Secretary/Awards Recorder: Joslyn Scarlett-Nicole Doyle
· First Aid Station: Daniel Pipoly
The Special Olympics Athlete Oath, "Let me win, But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt," sums up these riders as they demonstrated their skills by maneuvering 1200 pound Horses with skill and precision, and at least on this day, forgot about daily struggles. The riders let beaming smiles and photo opportunities speak for themselves. Their personal spirit and accomplishments have touched the hearts and souls of the crowd and volunteers who were cheering on these amazing equestrians.
