In memory of Frank Landi Jr.
We would like to thank and recognize Angela DeLuca for her donation in honor and memory of her dear cousin Frank Landi Jr., also know as Buckey by his loved ones. As stated in a letter to Horses Help, "March 10th was his one year anniversary in heaven. He was a kind hearted and generous man who loved and cared for his animals like family and was especially fond of his horses and dogs." Thank you Angela for keeping Horses Help in your heart and for helping support our programs, riders and horses.

In memory of Deborah Tyers
A special thanks to everyone who has donated in memory of Deborah Tyres. We truly appreciate the collaborative efforts by family and friends and can see that she made an impact on a lot of hearts. Without people like you we could not serve the special needs community with the service and passion that we do today. |
Colic: Basically a horse tummy ache. Colic can range from mild to severe discomfort. It can be caused by stress, dehydration, gas, worms, sand, bad food, poisonous plants, etc. Mild Colic can be treated by walking the horse and giving it medicine. In severe cases surgery or euthanasia may be necessary. Did you know that colic is the leading cause of premature death in horses?

Babe is doing great at the Love Shack!
Robin, Carol and Marlene recently paid Babe a visit at her new retirement home, Love Shack in Phoenix, AZ, and you can see for yourself that this mare has not lost her sense of humor! She is doing really well and has some nice barn mates that she loves to hang with and keep her company! Thank you Love Shack for giving Babe a great place to live out her golden years!

Little Luna with a BIG heart!
Horses Help would like to welcome our new mini horse Luna! This sweetheart was graciously donated to us by the AZ Mini Mistique who will be performing at the World Equestrian Games this year in Lexington, KY in October. Luna is a Black Varnish Appaloosa Miniature Horse. She is 10 years old and 30 1/2 inches tall. She is on her way to becoming certified as a Delta Pet Partner so she can come to events with her two-legged coworkers...she will be our officialspokes-horse! Luna recently got clipped this week and you can see her appaloosa spots and her heart on her left side! If you have it in your heart to sponsor this sweet little horse please contact Brittany.w@horseshelp.org. |

Welcome to the Neeeighborhood!
Welcome Kava and Reba! Kava, on the left, is a sweet 10 year old POA (Pony of America) who was a competitive hunter jumper. She is fitting right in with our herd and is currently getting used to the toys and surrounding that she will soon be working in. Thank you Tishkoff family for sharing this sweet little girl! Reba, right, came to us from the Clark family and is a spirited 18 year old Arabian mare who's prior job was a trail and endurance horse. She has been with us for a few weeks now and is getting back into shape so she can help out in out programs soon! We are always looking for someone with a soft spot in their heart to sponsor our horses. If you are interested in sponsoring one of these horses please contact Brittany.W@horseshelp.org |

Annie is running with the Angels
It is with a heavy heart I must announce the passing of our beloved Annie. She has been with us for many wonderful years and will be missed so much. Annie gave her all to every volunteer and rider she was with and has touched many hearts. Her Herd, two and four footed, will miss her dearly but are comforted that she is running with angels.

New Project Completions!
Solar
The solar project, part of the larger Go Green initiative at Horses Help was a large collaborative effort on the part of a lot of different people and agencies (more details next month). However, even though all the parts and pieces came from many different vendors, the solar puzzle, if you will, has to be put together by someone. That someone is Mike Dwyer. Electrician extraordinaire! Mike has been volunteering his time at Horses Help since he designed and installed the shaded seating area with Home Depot last year. Mike is a Phoenix native and loves the warm weather with numerous lakes close by and cool weather just a couple of hours away. He stole his beautiful wife Annie from California 13 years ago. He loves building and designing things and is most proud of Annie's Garden in honor of his wife.
Mike works with All Seasons Electric: They do everything from large custom homes to small remodels and landscape lighting. Of course we love him for his Solar Power! We appreciate Mike for his smile, warm nature and his expertise. So if anyone in the Horses Help family needs a great electrician, contact Mike and his team at All Seasons Electric for all of your power needs! These are wonderful community partners. Contact Mike: onelyvwyr13@yahoo.com.
Cross Tie Station Horses Help never stands still too long. We have a lot of small projects on our list and one in particular was a cross tie station. This was needed for safely working around our horses while teaching grooming, bathing and tacking. The area was designed with enough room for our wheel chair and walker clients. This project was a Gold Award Project completed by Samantha Weller. The Gold award is the highest achievement for a Girl Scout, the basic equivalent of an Eagle Scout award through the Boy Scouts of America. The iron was donated through Ironco, who also donated the solar structure. The work took several weeks to complete and is a wonderful new addition to our center. We cannot thank Samantha enough for all of her hard work and dedication. We also wish to congratulate her on earning her Gold award and we know that her character and spirit will make her a tremendous success in the future. |
