Upcoming Events
Greetings!

Join us for a unique event as we watch a "wet" rainwater cistern being installed.

Come learn the mechanics of a wet cistern install and watch as the pieces come together at Horses Help in North Phoenix. Rainwater will be harvested from the horse barn roof and piped 100 ft over to a 1600 gallon galvanized cistern.

The collected water will be used for both large scale composting of horse stall litter and to water sensory and community gardens for the families and volunteers who serve Horses Help daily.

Schedule for the day:
Morning:
--Intro to project - Why are we doing this? (Gregg/Anne) - 10-20 mins
--Theory of water harvesting with examples of larger scale projects (Chip/Eric/Nick) - 60 mins
--Wet cistern technique (Eric/Chip/Nick) -60 mins
Lunch Break (please bring your own lunch)
Afternoon:
--various demos outside on how all the parts fit together
--see the placing of the cistern on the cement pad

This cistern was paid for through a successful grant application by Arizona Homegrown Solutions. The cistern is to be used as an educational tool for both kids and adults as they learn about water harvesting in the desert.

RSVP to gregg.g@horseshelp.org   Class size is limited.

Sincerely,
