September 2008
Greetings,
While this wet and quick summer flows into fall, we are busy making interesting books on our Espresso Book Machine. Just released in its final form this week is Rabbi Michael Cohen's book, Einstein's Rabbi: A Tale of Science and the Soul ($15.95 paperback). It tells the story of a young man's search for transcendent meaning in his life. The book has received advanced praise from the likes of Reverend Fred Beuchner and Tony Award-winning actor Mandy Patinkin. Rabbi Cohen will present his book at the bookstore on November 16th.
Coming out shortly will be Around the World with a Million Kids: Adventures of an Online Explorer ($15.95 paperback) by John Fox who is Director of Strategic Communications at World Learning in Brattleboro. For five years John traveled the world as part of a pioneering online expedition series called the Quests. Accompanying his team were more than a million young people who joined from classroom computers in more than 120 countries. His book chronicles that adventurous journey across the world. We hope you can join us for the event on October 1st.
These new Print On Demand books and others in the program belong on shelves the world over!
While we have been producing books, Northshire Bookstore's young customers have been busy providing recommendations for books they've read this summer as part of our Summer Reading Program. The children's floor is filled with these "Shelf Talkers" that will help customers make decisions on what to read next. These recommends will be in place throughout the fall, so come into the store to see what your peers are reading!
Northshire customers of all ages have been instrumental in helping to raise funds for the Interfaith Council's Summer Lunch Program these past few months. Customers raised $600 to help feed over 100 area school children this summer. Thank you for your contributions!
We are always appreciative of our customers, but we thought we'd give an extra show of thanks this fall with an additional Booklub Members Appreciation Sale, September 13th and 14th. Everything in the store (and online) will be 20% off! So, if you're not already a Northshire Bookclub member, join during the sale weekend and receive instant benefits!
If you haven't stopped in for a while, please come visit the store or online -- we are are always trying to improve to better suit your needs. Remember, books are affordable, wonderful gifts!
Enjoy the leaves. Chris
