| Greetings!
Here we all are, nearly shutting down for the holidays. Did you get everything out of 2011 that you hoped? While I didn't get ALL of my goals accomplished (who ever does?), I did have a wonderful year on four different fronts -- business/client growth, personal health, family, and new initiatives/opportunities. I actually made some VERY simple goals in early 2011 (and I didn't have too many goals either!), and that made it possible to make those goals happen. I'm going to follow the same process for 2012, and I'm very excited about the future moving forward.
Being year-end and the beginning of a new year, I hope you can take a little time to do the same. It is always good to occasionally take a break from the chaos of the day-to-day, get to a higher vantage point, and take a look at the "whole forest" instead of each of the "trees". I do hope that you can find a little time to do this for yourself, and make some simple, achievable goals for 2012 that can allow you to do the same.
This month's Timely Tip is to take advantage of previous Timely Tips -- let's get to it!

Timely Tips "Master" Archive -- Access to ALL Issues Going Back to 2004
| This is ALWAYS the place to look for your Timely Tip!
Being a year-end issue, I wanted to follow on a previous tradition -- giving you access to ALL of the back issues (all the way back to 2004, when this little e-newsletter started by personal individual e-mail to about 100 of my personal contacts.) I now am approaching 5,000 monthly subscribers, as well as several thousand that can retrieve this e-news via Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. It has been amazing seeing the growth of Timely Tips through the years.
I know a good number of you (probably 1,000 - 2,000 of you) are relatively new Timely Tips subscribers, or are getting this issue as a special thank you for attending one of my programs this year. (If you are not getting Timely Tips every month, please send me a direct e-mail at randy@randalldean.com and I'll get you added to the regular subscriber list.) There is a LOT of valuable info in this archive, and I wanted you to know that you can access it at any time -- here is the link:
Randy Dean's Timely Tips Archive
Some of my favorites from the last year or so:
- Last month's "SmartPhone Strategies" - The "special 2-part" June & July issues on Ending the Office Clutter - The December 2010 "PC Shut Down" tips - The December 2009 "Killer Keystroke Combo" document
And, if you peruse this list, you'll find access to some very useful podcast replays and more. Note also that you can get access to all issues prior to 2008 by linking to the "End of Year Gift" from 2008 -- that gives you a link to a 90-page e-book of the Timely Tips from 2004 - 2008.
Keep the link above to the Timely Tips archive bookmarked, and, yes, please feel free to share this link with others. There is a ton of time to be saved in these back issues, and many of these tips are purely tactical in nature. Maybe you'll save so much time you won't even have to go to work anymore? (Wouldn't that be nice!)

Big Plans Moving Forward
I have a pretty crazy 2012 lining up. The existing client work looks great -- should be a very good spring (and I'm already booking into the fall!) Plus, I have two big new initiatives in process: 1. I'm leading a new program starting in January 2012 that a number of you might be interested in: SmartPhone Success: Key Strategies for Getting More Productivity from Your SmartPhone. This will be a fun and useful program on PRODUCTIVITY (plus a little fun) with your SmartPhones, and one of the highlights will be when I open up the session "to the floor" so the audience can also contribute what apps and tools they are using. If interested, let me know, and we can chat about how to bring this program to your group or association. 2. Randy's "Webinar School" -- this A VERY EXCITING announcement, still in the formative stages. Basically, all of my most popular programs will be made available in both live webinar AND post-program streaming/download format, including my full "Taming the E-mail Beast", "Optimizing Your Outlook", "Time Management in the Cloud Using Google", and other programs. I will also be able to partner with firms, associations, speakers, and authors to bring this valuable content to their members/subscribers (possibly even as a fundraiser.) I will be making more announcements about this early in 2012, but I am working on getting things set up now for this big launch in conjunction with a national webinar provider. (If you would like to chat about how you too could participate in this opportunity, please send me a note at randy@randalldean.com). So, as you can see, I'm pretty excited about 2012 -- new clients, new programs, new media channels -- as well as the opportunity to work with many of you again. Enjoy your holiday break (if you are getting one), and cherish your time with family, friends, and loved ones. I look forward to being in touch again in early 2012! Stay Timely! Sincerely,

App of the Month
Evernote
| This is definitely a "5-star" app and a must-have for your SmartPhone device AND tablets! Evernote effectively takes all of your note taking and list making out of your planner and/or your Outlook, and puts them "in the cloud" (available on the Android Market, BlackBerry App Store and ITunes App Store.) Here's how I'm using it now:
1. I've copied all of the many useful notes I used to store in Outlook (see below) to Evernote. When I downloaded Evernote onto my new PC, it loaded a widget right into my Outlook that allows me to seamlessly copy my notes into Evernote. That puts those notes on the cloud for access in the cloud.
2. I have the Evernote app for both my Droid phone and my Kindle Fire. Those apps are "linked" to my Evernote on the cloud, so ALL of the notes that I've been making on my PC are now on all three devices, both in "physical storage" and "in the cloud". Evernote automatically syncs these notes whenever it has Internet access, but also keeps them in local storage on the devices too (yes, it is available for IPhone and IPad too.)
3. There is also a browser widget that allows me to "clip" web articles and send them to Evernote, so I can save these web articles for later and read even when I'm offline (assuming that Evernote has synced in between.)
This is just the start of the possibilities with Evernote. Effectively, I've replaced my note taking and list making that I've been teaching for years first in planners and then in Outlook with Evernote instead, due to the ease of use and the functional advantages of having this information available pretty much "everywhere" (lists like shopping lists, books to read, music to buy, packing lists, gifts, garden tips, meeting notes, project plans, "bucket lists" -- even golf yardages! You can see why you'd want these handy wherever you are!)
Michael Hyatt did a great blog post on some of the possibilities using Evernote in his great blog -- check his blog post out here.
Thanks to Timely Tips reader Paul Schwager for sharing the Michael Hyatt blog post on Evernote.
