Greetings!
Today, I'm writing from the banks of the Mississippi River in Burlington, Iowa, where I'll be presenting for the Professional Developers of Iowa. It has been a crazy summer and equally crazy (but excellent!) fall, so I'm going to keep this month's Timely Tips short and sweet. As a matter of fact, it showed up in my mailbox this month, and I thought it would be something good to share with all of you.
Let's get to this month's Timely Tip:

These CustomGuides Look Handy!
| This is ALWAYS the place to look for your Timely Tip!
I received a little postcard mailer earlier this month from an organization called CustomGuide in Minnesota. They apparently publish little software guide PDFs that can help you with getting more from your software, and have made an affiliation with the American Society of Training & Development. They have several of these little 2-page "quick reference" guides on several very popular software programs available, with tips on usage, keystroke shortcuts, and more. Some of the software guides they have posted for free preview and distribution (yes, they even allow distribution of these guides!), including Outlook 2010 tips, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Office.
You know how I love these kinds of things, as I often post my own "cheat sheet" guides in Timely Tips. But why recreate the wheel??? If someone has developed some pretty useful guides for free preview, why not take a look? If you can get a few good tips on the software you are using most frequently, your time clicking this link will be well worth it. Let me know if you find these useful. Here's the link:

Lots of interest in Webinars lately
I wanted to finish this month's Timely Tips by pointing your attention to the testimonial to the right by Kathleen Tindell at HSMAI. They had me do my Taming E-mail program as both a live audience session AND simulcast webinar earlier this month, and the online audience ate it up! I do about 5-10 webinars per year, and both my Taming the E-mail Beast and my Optimizing Your Outlook sessions are perfectly suited for a webinar delivery method. (And I've been putting out a number of proposals lately for this kind of program/content delivery.) If you and your organization have an interest in this delivery model, please let me know. It may be a way to either get this information to a distributed audience, save you some money on my professional fee and travel expenses, or both (and yes, I don't mind NOT getting on an airplane once in a while, and actually sleeping in my own bed! I'd love to do more of these!) Simply reply to this e-mail if you would like to find out more. We are starting to see the leaves change up in Michigan, and the temps have definitely cooled a bit. We've even already made our first tip to the local apple orchard -- I love this time of year! I hope that you can get out and enjoy some of the beautiful fall season, knowing that the holidays will be here before we know it. Until next month, Stay Timely! Sincerely,
