*  Plus a handy Ten Tips PDF and Information on upcoming public courses and a free webinar
February 2010
Greetings!

I'm dodging the snow flakes here in East Lansing today -- the winter storm actually forced me to reschedule client events today and tomorrow, so I figured this is a great time to send out a new Timely Tips.  Make sure to page to the right to see the public courses coming up in February and March.  Enjoy!

GREAT E-mail tip from a Timely Tips Reader

This is the place to ALWAYS look to find your monthly Timely Tip.

This is a great and simple tip from Timely Tips reader and business partner Carol Grainger (many of you already know Carol as my client coordinator -- she can help you with arranging a program for your company or organization -- cgrainger@yourastec.com.)  I thought it was a real dandy:

"Some people have a bad habit (me!) of sending something out too quickly.  To avoid sending an unfinished e-mail accidentally, add the recipient's e-mail address LAST.  If you are replying to an e-mail, delete the senders e-mail address before composing your message and then re-enter the address when you have completed your response.  I have also unchecked my autosend on my mail setup and set my Scheduled "autosend" to 30 minutes.  If I want to send a message more quickly, I can initiate that manually."

Carol, as a person that has inadvertently hit the "Send" button before I was truly ready (once or twice to some embarrassment!), I love this tip.  It is a great best practice that allows you to make sure your message is ready before hitting "Send". Thanks for sharing!

My Ten Favorite E-mail Productivity Enhancement Tips

I put together this handy little 3-page PDF to be featured on an upcoming Top Ten Tips web site that is being built by my friend and productivity expert in her own right, Dr. Meggin McIntosh.  (It looks like she has some Top Ten's already posted -- click her link to check them out.)

Coolest e-mail I've ever received.

A final little note -- I received this message from Ben Butina at Westinghouse Electric Company, after he attended my session last fall in Pittsburgh.  It ranks up there as perhaps the coolest message I've ever received from someone that has taken one of my Taming E-mail courses.  I hope all of you have benefited similarly from some of these tips too.  Thanks for your continued support and ideas!  Hope to see many of you in the upcoming MSAE programs in March.

Until we talk again, Stay Timely!

Sincerely,

Managing & Leading Great Staff & Team Meetings
I've teamed up again with my friends at Copper Conferencing to hold another free webinar as part of their online learning academy (and give you some exposure to their excellent online webinar tool.)  We'll be doing a 1-hour program on my best tips for Managing & Leading Great Staff & Team Meetings.  If, like me, you find wasted time in meetings a big pet peeve, make sure to attend this webinar.  (Yes, we can lead this program for your team, company, or association!)

Here's the registration link.

Looking forward to seeing you (hearing you!) on the webinar.
