Timely Tips January 2010:
Two New SUPER Killer Keystroke Combos

*  Plus a FREE teleseminar this week, AND info on a new conference/meeting program I've developed
January 2010
Greetings!

So, are you a bit busy coming back to work after the holiday?  SO AM I!  So I'm going to keep this short and sweet.  I've got a couple quick announcements and of course a very useful Timely Tip for you.  Enjoy!
Some Quick Updates
Two NEW Killer Keystroke Combos
New Program: Productivity Boosters for PC Users
TWO NEW SUPER KEYSTROKE COMBOS: And, I've updated your "Killer Keystroke Combos" Cheat Sheet

This is the place to ALWAYS look to find your monthly Timely Tip.

I sent out that handy keystroke combo shortcut document last month, and I just knew a number of you would respond with a few more.  Here are two that I think are GREAT:

Windows Key + D:  Automatically minimizes the program you are in and takes you to your computer's desktop. How cool is that?  (Windows + M seems to work the same way -- I think the "D" stands for Desktop and the "M" stands for "Minimize")  Your pick!

Outlook E-mail Tip:

CTRL+Shift+E:  Use this combo when you have your Outlook e-mail open, and you automatically are prompted to create a new folder.  It even opens up a little helper window so you can select the correct location for that new folder -- too cool!!

Of course, I had to update that super handy 1-page cheat sheet of my favorite keystroke combo shortcuts to reflect these new options:

Thanks to Timely Tips readers John LeTourneau and Susan Fennema for sharing these handy keystroke combos.

Productivity Boosters:  Key PC Shortcuts & Timesavers

This process of collecting and assembling these keystroke combos got me to thinking that these combos -- plus a few other of my key web browser, social media, and e-mail timesavers -- would make a really fun and useful 45-75 minute conference/meeting program.  So, I've done just that -- created a new conference/meeting program that features my favorite timesavers on the PC.  Here's a quick description:

You know there are ways to do things faster on your PC, but it's hard to remember them. You've picked up a few over the years, but you could sure use more. In this session, Amazon bestseller Randy Dean, MBA, The "Totally Obsessed" Time Management/Technology Guy, shares his favorite time-saving shortcuts on a PC environment. From keystroke combos, to auto-rules, to web browser tricks, learn strategies for "amping up" your personal PC performance!

Learning Points:

  • Adopt useful keystroke combinations that will enhance your speed using common programs on your PC.
  • Find and retrieve documents in your Windows Explorer and on your Desktop with greater speed and ease.
  • Learn useful tips for speeding up your web browsing skills -- moving between tabs & windows, gathering information, and more -- without using your mouse!
  • Integrate shortcuts and new rules in your e-mail account so you can auto-send common messages, autofile or delete received messages, and more!
  • Enact a new social media strategy that allows for simultaneous posting on multiple sites at one time.

To Note: I will provide a pre-printed handout for this program -- a simple one-page reference document similar to the Keystroke Combos cheat sheet, but more advanced, that will allow people to remember these tips and strategies post-conference.

I believe this could be one of the most useful one-hour time investments for just about anyone, providing tangible, immediately useful productivity enhancement capabilities for PC users.  If you have an interest in discussing bringing this program to your upcoming conference or meeting, please get in touch, or just reply to this e-mail.
Here's to a GREAT 2010!

Batteries are recharged -- let's bring this economy back to life this year!!  Later this week, I'm going to send out a special podcast gift to all of you -- watch for it.  And don't forget about the free e-mail telecourse later this week.  Also, look for me at events in DC, Ann Arbor, Chicago, East Lansing, Calgary, and Detroit in coming weeks (Calgary is cool, eh?)  Let me know if we might cross paths -- perhaps we can have a coffee!

Until we talk again, Stay Timely!

Sincerely,

Randy Dean
