| Greetings!
The travels continue! I'm heading up north later this week for client work, after spending a good part of last week in Northern California at Berkeley and UC Davis (oh woe is me!) By the way, if you ever want to do something REALLY cool, I strongly recommend visiting Mt. Diablo State Park near Walnut Creek, California, and driving the road to the summit. That is one of those great mountain roads with no guardrails, multiple hairpin turns, a six-inch shoulder, and 1,500 - 2,000 foot drop-offs! Can't beat that for fun! ;-) It is also where Olympic cyclists also go for training, so watch out for the bikers! And the view from the top can't be beat.
After last month's Timely Tip, I had an astute comment from one of my readers, who told me, "Randy, you've got too much news. What if I'm in a hurry and just want the tip?" Well, I'm not sure if you all noticed, but a few months ago, I changed the design template of Timely Tips, and part of this design change was to MAKE IT EASY for you to find and read the monthly tip -- but I did NOT share with you precisely where to look. LOOK RIGHT BELOW THIS TEXT BLOCK AND TABLE OF CONTENTS for the new Timely Tip each month. That way, if you are in a hurry, you can skip this "dribble", zoom past the program announcements and other stuff, and go right to the useful tip.
I do encourage all of you in and near Michigan to look at my two events next week -- one here in Lansing and the other in Grand Rapids (to the right). Both are great and very affordable options to get my time, e-mail, and Outlook management strategies for you and/or your staff. Also, look below my Timely Tip for yet another free teleseminar course opportunity you can take advantage of -- this one as part of a telecourse academy where I will be one of several top experts providing valuable content -- worth checking out!
Let's get to another handy Timely Tip for you web surfers:
|
LOOK HERE: Your Timely Tip is Always HERE!
|
This is the place to ALWAYS look to find your monthly Timely Tip.
I hadn't sent out last month's Timely Tip on excellent time-saving keystroke combos for your web browser by more than a few minutes when Timely Tips reader and good friend Rich Lytle sent back yet another great keystroke combo for helping you to fly around your browser even faster:
"Hey Randy,
Another combo
I use when browsing the web (primarily when on a laptop without a mouse) is the "Alt + left arrow"
to jump BACK to the previous web page after clicking a link, rather than
dragging the mouse up to the toolbar to hit the Back button. ("Alt + right
arrow" as you might guess jumps forward again after backing up.)"
Rich, this is an awesome tip, and I'm using it ALL THE TIME now. I love anything that can allow me to NOT have to use my mouse. With last month's CTRL+T, CTRL+W, & CTRL-Enter keystrokes, all of you should be MUCH better web browsers than just a few weeks ago. Thanks a ton! And keep those tips coming!

Another Great Idea from a Timely Tips Reader and an Upcoming BONUS for you:
|
I was leading a training at one of my university clients this month when one of my Timely Tips subscribers came up after the session and said:
"Randy, I want a list of all of your keystroke combos. Those things really help, but it is hard to remember them all. Have you compiled a list of those yet?"
Ummm, no. But what a great idea. I'm putting it on myself to create this document and send to all of you by the end of the Thanksgiving holiday. So, look for this by the end of this month (and don't shift-delete that e-mail from me -- this one will be HIGHLY useful!)

No Cost Taming E-mail Teleseminar, as Part of AskMisterSelfHelp.com's Success Academy
|
My friend Kevin Levine is doing something very cool this fall/winter. He has lined up a dozen of the leading information content providers online (including yours truly), and has built an "Excellence Academy" that can greatly enhance your personal and professional productivity and success. And, he has set it up so that even if you can't make one of the 12 sessions, you can get access to the replays after the fact.
Some of the areas of excellence that he is covering:
- E-mail Management (with yours truly!) - Working Less and Accomplishing More - Using the Power of Writing to Shape Your Career and Life - Attacking Your "Comfort Zone" for Breakthrough Results - Using Vision Boards ("a la The Secret") to Create Your Life
And so much more. To be fully transparent, you will get an opportunity upon registering to purchase a full set of replays and materials from this program, but the original registration and ability to listen in to the first set of teleseminars and telecourses FOR EACH EXPERT has NO COST. (I only offered to participate when I knew that people would have a no cost option to participate.)
Here is the registration page. If you are not used to "infomarketing" pages on the web, it might seem a bit "salesy", but the content being shared in this program looks to be very good, and includes several bestselling authors and leading program experts. Take a look and see!

Bursting at the Seams!
You might think these e-newsletters have grown a bit over the last couple of years, but I have to tell you that I'm actually cutting back big-time on what is making the cut for inclusion in these newsletters. Since hitting the top of Amazon's list in six different categories this summer with Taming the E-mail Beast, it seems everybody wants a piece of me and my list (not a bad problem, eh?) By the way, if you are interested, the Timely Tips subscriber list passed the 3,500 subscriber milestone last month. In October of 2006, we had 350 subscribers. How about that?!?I do hope that you are both finding the Timely Tips very useful, as well as the program announcements and other short news I am sharing of use. And I do of course encourage sharing this information with others -- just use the "Forward" button below. I do wish all of you some much deserved down time and family fun over the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. I'm personally taking more than a week off after my brutal (but oh so fun!) fall schedule, and giving some time to my wife and girls that they much deserve. I'll also be moonlighting a bit to get all of you that Killer Keystroke Combo document I mentioned above, so look for that shortly! Until we talk again, Stay Timely!
Sincerely,
Randy Dean Randall Dean Consulting & Training, LLC
PS: Always feel free to use the "Forward E-mail" option below to share this info with your family, friends, & co-workers. |

I'm quite excited to be sharing my Taming the E-mail Beast program at November's Mid-Michigan ASTD monthly meeting, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson National Life Headquarters just off I-96 south of Exit 110 here in Lansing.
I'll be speaking for about 75 minutes on this topic for MM ASTD, providing a great opportunity for you to see this program again and also send your staff or team.
MM ASTD has made this program extremely affordable, even if you are not a member, so this is one to definitely check out. What a great way to enter the Thanksgiving Holiday -- with a sane e-mail account!

By the way, if you are an association, meeting, or Chamber professional, please note this successful model: a number of my clients have been able to bring me as the featured speaker for an event, and then line up one or more sponsors to underwrite the event. This is a great model that can greatly enhance the success of your events for EVERYONE involved -- if interested, give me a call or send me an e-mail (randy@randalldean.com) and we can chat how this model might work for you.
