Spring Heading

Omicron Delta Kappa

April 2011

Dear O∆K Member,

As our member campuses are heading into the last few months of the academic year we are reminded of the many acomplishments of our Circles and members. Many are holding awards ceremonies and often O∆K members are recognized for significant accomplishments on campus and in thier community. With the turning of the season, also brings flourishing growth within the Society; Circles are holding initiation ceremonies all over the country, continually adding to our growing circle of honorees.

As we near graduation we thank those finishing their academic careers to pursue opportunities in the world beyond the campus. We urge them to continue to emulate the ideals of O∆K which is adherence to the highest standards of scholarship, service, integrity, character and fellowship.

We are strengthened each and every day in knowing we have sustained these ideals since our founders created them 96 years here in Lexington, Virginia, at our founding site, Washington and Lee University.

Sincerely,
Tom Signature

Tom Goodale

Executive Director, Omicron Delta Kappa

Faculty Officer Seminar
March 3-4, 2011 in Lexington, Virginia

Fourteen Faculty Secretaries and Advisors representing eleven Circles participated in the Faculty Officer Seminar. Dr. Betsy Holloway, National President and Faculty Secretary at Samford University, served as a co-facilitator, along with Michelle Burke, Faculty Advisor of the Grand Valley State University Circle.

 FO 2011

The goal of the seminar is to provide Faculty Officers with the opportunity to share ideas and practical approaches for improving their Circles and the Society.  It also serves as a "thank you" to the participating Officers for their service, and provides time for colleagues to enjoy some camaraderie. One participant provided encouraging feedback, telling us this week that, "It was the most beneficial professional development I've done in a long time."
