Dear ODK Member,
We hope you've enjoyed your summer so far. It's been quite a busy summer for the ODK National Headquarters. The 2010 National Leadership Summit and Convention was a great success and an exciting time for the students, faculty, staff and volunteers who participated. Through the hard work of many ODK members at the local and national level, we're excited to offer several new opportunities for service to ODK. From the establishment of the National Advisory Council to the reorganization of the 1914 Club, we're focusing our efforts on creating new ways for our members to make a significant impact on the Society. We've also recently partnered with an online job community, KODA, to create and sustain new, viable
opportunities for career development and advancement among our members. Please take a moment to read about these new and exciting developments and learn how you can be involved.
I thank you for your loyalty and service
to Omicron Delta Kappa. Sincerely, |
Natonal Advisory Council
Last month, the 2010 National Convention voted to establish the ODK National Advisory Council (ODK NAC) to replace the Council of Regional Directors/Regional Director governance structure. The ODK NAC will be a group of dedicated members of the Society that will represent key constituencies and will advise the Board of Directors on matters related to the Society's well-being. The National Advisory Council will be composed of no fewer than nine (9) and no more than fifteen (15) members of the Society. The Board of Directors, based on recommendations provided by the Executive Director, will appoint the members of the National Advisory Council for two year terms each. The National Advisory Council is to be composed of four constituencies: students, Faculty Secretaries, Faculty Advisors, and alumni. At minimum, no fewer than two (2) members from each of those groups should be represented on the National Council at any given time. No more than two (2) members from the same Circle may serve on the National Advisory Council at any one time (faculty members shall be deemed to be from the Circle where they serve and not where inducted).
If you are interested in serving on the National Advisory Council, please email a resume and letter of interest to ODK Executive Director Tom Goodale by Friday, July 23rd. The Board of Directors will convene soon thereafter and will begin the process of nominating and appointing the National Advisory Council.
