New Executive Director
Thomas G. Goodale
Tom Goodale

The Omicron Delta Kappa Society is proud to announce the selection of Thomas G. Goodale as the new Executive Director, to begin in June, 2009.  Chosen to succeed Jack Morgan, who will retire at the end of June, Tom brings an exceptional background of experience in higher education and in association management to OΔK.

Ken Ruscio, former National President, current President of Washington and Lee University, and Chair of the Executive Director Search Committee gives this observation about Tom: "Dr. Goodale emerged as a strong choice because of his experience in higher education and society management.  He will also bring a strong sense of values, a fine understanding of what OΔK has been, and a vision for what it can become."

Tom is an initiated member of Omicron Delta Kappa, having been selected as a faculty member at the University of Florida in 1974.  We welcome Tom to fulfill the expectation made during every initiation ceremony: "if greatness is to be achieved, one must serve."

We both anticipate and expect great things!
Truett Cathy April '09
Chick-fil-A founder receives OΔK's Highest Award
At a simple ceremony held at the National Headquarters of Chick-fil-A, S. Truett Cathy, their founder and Chairman, was presented the Laurel Crowned Circle Award.  On March 13, 2009 four members of the Board of Trustees, Calder Sinclair, Betty DeMent, Bill Kelly, and Jack Morgan, congratulated Mr. Cathy as the most recent recipient of the Laurel Crowned Circle Award. Mr. Cathy, a 1982 honoris causa initiate at Georgia State University, was very appreciative of this honor.

Given to only nineteen individuals in the history of the Society, this award recognizes an outstanding American who has exemplified the ideals of Omicron Delta Kappa. Mr. Cathy has certainly met and exceeded the criteria for this award.  His strong character and positive impact on higher education, especially through his WinShape Scholarships for Berry College students, have been noteworthy.  We should all be proud to call Mr. Cathy a member of OΔK.

The 2009 Campus Leaders Today, Community Leaders Tomorrow (CLT2) program will be held June 16-19 in Phoenix under the continuing leadership of Dr. Russ Cargo. A full class has been chosen and the student participants have been notified.

This unique and outstanding program, devoted to preparing members of OΔK to become nonprofit board members in the future, has received high praise from attendees each of the years it has been held. Faculty, nonprofits that have been visited through the program, and our own Boards of Trustees and Directors have been consistently impressed with and excited by the caliber of the program.
