Charity Navigator Awards Highest Honor Two Years Running to Common Hope
Common Hope gains recognition through exceptional fiscal responsibility of funds and donations

St. Paul, Minn. - September 17, 2007 - For the second year in a row, Charity Navigator, America's premier charity evaluator, has awarded Common Hope with their four-star, "exceptional" rating for sound fiscal management.  Common Hope is a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of families in Guatemala.

Only twelve percent of charities receive two consecutive four-star evaluations, which is the highest honor.  "This is an indication that Common Hope outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible," said Trent Stamp, executive director of Charity Navigator.

The fiscal responsibility refers to Common Hope's three-year average of using 84 percent of funds on programs in Guatemala.  This efficiency allows Common Hope to serve over 8,000 impoverished children and adults each year, providing access to opportunities in education, health care, and housing so they can achieve a better life.

The New York Times, National Public Radio and the Chronicle of Philanthropy, among others, have profiled Charity Navigators unique method of applying data driven analysis to the charitable sector.  Charity Navigator evaluates ten times as many charities than other competitive charity evaluators, making the top four-star award truly an honor.
