Jewelry Updates

We've been getting swamped with phone calls and emails from confused jewelry vendors. I understand your frustration, but in order to have a more balanced Market we can only allow 10% of jewelry spaces per event. Otherwise there is too much competition and the customers begin to complain. We also look at what type of jewelry you create. Example, if there are 5 beaded jewelry vendors already accepted to a particular date, it's unlikely your application will get accepted if your medium is beading. If this is the case, we will kindly suggest another date where your category is less competitive. We are considerate of your needs, but we also have to think of our customers and having a wide variety to offer them, not just filling space with any application that comes our way.

We have always put a cap on the amount of jewelry vendors we accept each year, but as the Market grows in popularity the demand for jewelry space increases as well. In turn, jewelers who want to reserve space are applying very early, some in November of 07. We have an average of 70-80 vendors that attend a regular Market Sunday, jewelry vendors will make up 10% of the total. On two days events, when there are 120 vendors, only 12 spaces will be occupied by jewelers.

There is still plenty of space available on some Sundays in July, August, September and October and we would love to have you participate!

Below are the dates that are now full for jewelers in the South End:
May: 17 & 18 (Opening Weekend)
June: 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
July: 13
September: 20 & 21 (Open Studios Weekend)

Jewelry spaces in Mashpee and Providence are all open, but are filling quick. We will post updates on all websites when dates fill up.

Adding, Mixing and Switching Dates

Adding Dates
Applications are accepted for each Market on a rolling basis from now till the end of the season. Although we do have a minimum at each Market, dates can always be added at any time by sending an email after you been accepted.

Mixing Dates
In order to reserve space at each of our Markets you must meet a least one of the Market minimum date requirements. After you have met that requirement, you are free to attend the other two Markets for as little or as many dates as you like. And there is no need to reapply, once you're accepted at one - consider yourself accepted at all 3. Just send an email with the additional date or dates, and if there isroom we will reserve the space for you.
Please note: this does not apply to special event weekends in the South End (Opening Weekend and Open Studios)

Switching Dates
For the South End and Providence Open Markets we have date switch forms on the website. Just fill in the dates you are scheduled to attend and the dates you would like to switch to. This request must be submitted at least 9 days prior to your reserved date. Your change is then considered--but be aware that your category or the Market may full on the date you are requesting to change to. Requests will not be made by email or phone.

A corresponding switch form for Mashpee will be added next week.

Join Our Street Team!

We are now forming our street teams for the South End and Providence Open Markets. Aside from print ads, web and editorial, hitting the streets to get the word out about our Market is a big part of our successful marketing campaign. This is a really great opportunity to get involved with us.

As a member, you would be willing to meet once a month (April through June) for a short meeting, then sent off on a sunny Saturday to hang posters and distribute postcards. We will provide all the necessary material (like postcards, posters, etc.). In return for your legwork, we will give you 5 free Markets at any of our 3 locations!

Street teamers should:
+ Be willing to pick up and hang posters approximately one day a month(March through June) after meetings.
+ Believe in our mission of supporting crafty independent local peeps.
