We have been getting many concerned emails and calls regarding our new mandatory tent weight policy. The main concern is being prepared on time for this coming weekend. Below are some additional options that will help get you through this coming weekend until you can get adequate weights.

Although the mandatory policy is new, the info has been up on the site for 2 years now. On the side bar of the "Vendor Info" page we put a link up to an article
under "Vendor Tips", this article  included tips and instructions on how to make your own weights. Today I updated the article to include more useful information. Last week we also sent out a newsletter, which included tent weight info. So again the news about tent weights is not new.

This is for your protection, customers and fellow vendors. In the future if the forecast is calling for heavy wind we will not open, and if you are scheduled that day, you will be given a credit toward another Market date.

Betsi Goutal, SEOM vendor sent me this link earlier today. Dick Blick is selling the EZ Up Weight Bags for the set of four weight bags for only $32.00!!

Quick Fixes
I realize that some of you may not have the time this week to purchase tent bags are make cement PVC weights, so here are some acceptable alternatives until you have adequate weights.

5 Gallon Water Jugs - 40lbs
Fill with water or sand and attach to each leg.

4-5 gallon Bucket  -  35 -45lbs
Fill with cement, place eyehook in top.You can also fill the bucket with sand or rocks.

Side Panels

We also received many comments about vendor's side panels. In the event you are in another situation like this past Sunday, please do not put up your side panels. This turns your tent into a parachute blowing back and forth into your neighbor's displays. It also increases the risk of your tent taking flight.

And last but not least. Someone dumped 40lbs of sand on Boston Sports Clubs' grass on Sunday. We received an angry call from my landlord and the Sports Club. This grass area is roped off each Sunday, so customers do not sit on it, not to mention dumping sand? I am going down to look at surveillance video to see who the culprit is, anyone want to fess up? There are two huge dumpsters on the lot and several roiling trash cans, please use these for trash disposal.

What a crazy weekend.
