Greetings! |
It's a good idea and beneficial spiritual discipline to count your blessings. The old hymn counsels us, "Count your many blessings, name them one by one." Pastor Steve suggests that lyric needs to change: "Count your many blessings, name them ton by ton."
According to Psalm 50:23, gratitude honors God and prepares the way for him to do more in our lives. Don't you want to make room for God to do more in and through you? Of course.
Be sure to take time to identify the blessings of God in your life. After making your list, express your thanks personally to the Lord for his goodness, grace, provision, and watch care.
Remember: God inhabits the praises of his people. Practicing the discipline of giving thanks helps to remove the illusion that God is absent. Ingratitude hinders your capacity to connect with God. Giving thanks puts things in proper perspective and acknowledges God's preeminence in our lives.
So, let's give thanks to God.

Daylight Savings Time, Nov. 1
|
Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, November 1. We revert back to
standard time.
Officially, we change our clocks at 2:00am on Sunday morning. However, it might
be a good idea to change your clocks before heading off to bed.
Remember, you "fall back" this Sunday, meaning that you get an extra hour of
sleep. That's good news: you recapture that hour you lost last spring. Service Schedule: - On Sunday, November 1, we will have a combined Worship Service at 10:00am in the Worship Center.
- Following worship, we will spend time together in the Word and Ministry Time. (This Sunday is not a Friends & Family Service.)
- It is a Rest Sunday, so there is no Bible Study or Kids Church.

Global Bridegroom Fast, Nov. 2-4
|
GBF is Monday - Wednesday, November 2 - 4. We will fast from 6:00am on
Monday until 6:00pm on Wednesday.
The highlight of the GBF will be our corporate intercession
gathering. We will meet on Monday, November 2, in the Student Center,
from 7:00 - 9:00pm, for our time of corporate intercession.
God is moving in the earth today. Our God is mobilizing and energizing
prayer on behalf of our Bridegroom King. May we cooperate with, participate in,
and bless what the Holy Spirit is doing to prepare the way for our Glorious
King.
Join us for corporate intercession and worship
on Monday, November 2, at 7:00pm. |
Discovery Day & New Members' Fellowship, Nov. 8
|
Discovery Day is a part of the New Members' Process at Calvary. In
this seminar, guests and new members find out about the philosophies, practices,
vision, and values of our congregation.
Our New Members' Fellowship follows the Discovery
Day seminar. This informal luncheon is a great place to interact with
our pastoral team.
Our next Discovery Day is scheduled for 9am on Sunday, November 8.
Please let us know if you plan to participate in Discovery
Day, so that we can prepare enough materials and food. Kid Care is also
available.

Baptism, Nov. 15
|
Baptism is one of our first steps of obedience as followers of Jesus
(Matthew 28:18-20). It is also a powerful prophetic picture of the death,
burial, and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:1-4).
In the waters of baptism, we publicly declare that we have died to our old
way of life and have been raised to walk in the new life we found
in Jesus.
A spiritual transaction takes place in baptism (Colossians 2:11-12).
Remember what happened at the baptism of Jesus? The Father declared his love to
the Son and the Spirit touched Jesus. We should anticipate that the Lord will
meet us in our baptism. Like Jesus, our baptism is a great pleasure to the
Father. Baptism is a time for us to encounter God's affirming love and the
empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
If you are interested in following the Lord Jesus in Believer's Baptism,
please contact Margaret Petry at [email protected] or at 281.550.4323 x 120.
