The High Cost of Layoffs

Leading After Layoffs is a fine new e-book by Wendy Mack and Deanna Banks. 
Their book provides suggestions to leaders on what to do after layoffs. 

But the book is a cautionary tale as well.

 
For example, they cite research that shows:
 
1 percent reduction in force triggers a 31 percent turnover in staff

64 percent of survivors of layoffs said

  • that their productivity had fallen
  • that they saw an 81 percent drop in customer service
  • and they saw 77 percent more mistakes in the workplace
