Ministries
St. Peter's Newcomers Community Join us and be a part of growing St. Peter's! The St. Peter's Newcomers Committee is looking for volunteers! Help us welcome new parishioners and inform them of all St. Peter's has to offer. Serve as a greeter at the 10 a.m. service on occasional Sundays. Please contact Kate MacDonald or Eileen Fava for more information on this very important ministry.
Church School Are you curious about life?
Do you like to use your imagination? Enjoy a challenge? If you are
interested in being a Church School teacher - or learning more about our
Church School and how you
might be able to help - please talk to Sarah Ardila or Theresa Swanson
about how you can be part of the Church School!! St Peter's has built,
from a strong foundation of these two volunteer leaders and a team of
volunteer teachers, a wonderful program for children grade pre-K to 8th
grade. You can contact Sarah Ardila or Theresa Swanson.
B-SAFE Many
thanks to all who participated in the B-SAFE program this summer:
buying provisions; making, delivering, and serving lunch; providing a
"fun Friday"; donating funds. Thank you to Karen Montague and Judy
Campos for organizing our participation this year. B-SAFE (Bishop's
Summer Academic and Fun Enrichment) serves over 550 youth and teens in
six Boston Area locations. The goals for all are to feel safe
physically, emotionally, and spiritually; feel big by trying new things
and advancing academic skills; and feel connected by building
relationships with peers and caring adults. Through shared activities,
they work to create relationships across neighborhoods to decrease
violence in the city and to increase academic achievement. St. Peter's
is proud to be a part of this vital program.

Parish Life
St. Peter's Anniversary Party - The fun Continues!!!! Let parishioners know about the fantastic auction item that you purchased at the St. Peter's Anniversary Party and have now redeemed!! Write up a short piece - it doesn't need more than 2 or 3 sentences but could be more elaborate if you wish - that describes the experience you had as you enjoyed your auction item. Photos are welcome as well! Submit your written piece by email. Attach any photos as jpeg files. Send your email to: thanks@stpetersweston.org as soon as you're able to put it together. Summer Coffee Hour - sign-up sheet is on the Parish Life bulletin board in the parish hall. Help needed to bring lemonade and cookies, set up, and clean up. Speak with Lynn Maruskin for further information.
Summer Volunteer Opportunity! There are two inner city ministries that can use extra volunteer help during the summer months: St. Francis House (homeless adult men and women, www.stfrancishouse.org) and Bridge Over Troubled Waters (homeless young people between the ages of 14-24, www.bridgeotw.org). These ministries benefit from Boston-area college students, and many of them have gone home for summer break. The ministries are now short staffed: St. Francis House needs volunteer help with clothing distribution and food preparation. Bridge needs volunteer tutors for the GED program. Peter Mitsakos, from St Demetrios Church, is a regular volunteer at both places and is offering to drive from Weston into Boston one weekday morning, probably Monday or Tuesday. He will leave Weston Center for Boston at 8:15am, and then leave Boston for Weston Center at 11:45am. SFH and Bridge are two blocks apart, and Peter parks at the Ritz, in between.
If you are interested in volunteering at one of these two places, please contact Peter directly at tpmitsakos@comcast.net, or 781-899-6583

Parish Life, Sort Of: Pan-Mass Challenge 2010
What better message is there than this? "Jack" is a cancer survivor and volunteer I met at a water stop on the Cape after completing about 150 of 192 miles. | Submitted by John Marchiony For
the 5th time, I'll ride the Pan Mass Challenge to honor the memory of
many, many loved ones -- mine and yours -- and the valiant campaign many
are waging now. And so many more are winning, in part because of the
contributions you and I make to fund cancer research.
The goal is big: Eradicate cancer.
I'd love to ride with the stories and pictures of cancer survivors and angels, so please email or call with a story and, if possible, a photo.
I've been powered through the hills from Sturbridge to Bourne and the dunes of Cape Cod with the wonderful stories from St. Peter's friends including the Symonds, Campos, Callows, Voyseys, Rodgers, Ruggles, Tyler-Rubensteins, and others. I hope you'll help me by sharing some of your loved ones who will power my legs over the mile.
If you also would like to make a contribution to the Jimmy Fund, 100% of which will go directly to fund life-saving research, please click to contribute through my PMC Paceline.
With gratitude,
John Marchiony john@marchiony.com | 781-3333-8686
