From the Rector...:

ANNUAL MEETING ON JANUARY 25 The Annual Parish Meeting is Sunday, January 25th, beginning with the 10:00 AM service and continuing with a simple lunch, parish elections and business meeting in the parish hall following the service. (Child care and activities during the business meeting will be available.) All parishioners are encouraged to take part in the meeting and become aware of the many aspects of our lively parish life. Of particular joy to me during this past year is the calling of Hall Kirkham, our Assistant Rector; Andrew Shenton, our Music Director; and Beth Graham, our Church School Coordinator. Together with Parish Secretary Mercer Riis, Junior Choir Director Kristen Dirmeier and Facilities Manager Harry Goodale, I believe we now have the staff leadership we need as we strive to move forward in all aspects of our parish life. I am also greatly encouraged by both the ongoing and emerging lay parishioner leadership, without which we would be greatly impoverished. One of the most visible changes this fall was the introduction of a new service structure at the 10:00 AM service of Holy Communion. The Book of Common Prayer provides for a variety of ways by which our worship life seeks to provide for the sacramental and educational nurture of parishioners of all ages. When the current pattern was begun in September, I said that we would evaluate it after we had some experience with it. I am appreciative of the many comments which have been offered, both positive and cautionary. During the spring, we will have appropriate opportunities for interested parishioners to join in the evaluation process, and I am grateful for the patience and support of everyone in this important process. I look forward to joining with you at our Annual Meeting on January 25th. -- Stephen

Our new Director of Music ~ Andrew Shenton
It is both an honor and a pleasure to take responsibility for directing the distinguished music program at St. Peter's. In my application for the position I noted that for me, music is far more than beautification, decoration, ornamentation or background-it is a powerful social cohesive, a proclamation of common identity, and above all something which is uplifting and which allows us a glimpse of eternity. Music also has an important role in the unity, ecumenism, mission, community and pastoral life of the church. In order that music at St. Peter's continues to grow, I see my function as a facilitator and mentor, servant and leader, in collaboration with my staff colleagues and the congregation. Since December have been working to get to know members of the parish and to plan music for worship. I look forward to introducing to you new repertoire in both the congregational and choir literature and to inviting you to participate in the program as much as possible.
Yours sincerely, Andrew Shenton
