Announcements
Summer hours: The church office is opened Tuesday - Friday, 9-3. Stephen is also
available on Monday's at the Rectory office (781-899-3071) or by email (sovoysey@comcast.net). Building Work: There are
several projects planned around the buildings this summer and fall,
especially the freshening and upgrading of church school space on the
lower level of the parish hall. Several parishioners are at work with
our building manager, Harry Goodale, and appropriate subcontractors to
do the needed work as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Apologies in advance for any inconveniences you may encounter while
this work is being done.
Pastoral Care: Pastoral
care of parishioners - by both fellow parishioners and by clergy - is
of the highest priority. Several parishioners have had critical medical
needs in the past few weeks, and it is very helpful to the clergy for
others to tell us when they know there is a need. In the rush of
addressing a crisis, family members don't always think to call the
church office and hospitals no longer make calls informing us of
admissions. Please, let us know of needs - even if you think we already
know! - so we can respond as promptly as possible! eKeys Archive: If you missed an earlier eKeys newsletter and would like to see it, please |

. . . from the Rectors Desk
TRANSFIGURATION August 6th is the feast day of the Transfiguration, honoring a mystical experience which a few of Jesus' followers had when Jesus called them to join him atop a mountain. It is reported in each of the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) by the use of strong literary signals to attract the attention of the reader. It happens on a mountain top. Jesus' appearance becomes so dazzling that the human eye cannot take it in. Elijah and Moses, heroes of the Covenant faith community, appear with Jesus for a moment. Finally, Jesus appears alone, once again in a form which is entirely recognizable as human. Some scholars think this is a story of a resurrection appearance which was later put into the gospel narratives.

News from El Hogar
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we helped with the dormitory project by moving a huge pile of cinder blocks, screening sand, and mixing concrete, all by person-power. We de-nailed three large piles of lumber salvaged from two wooden structures, sorted the boards, and carried them to a lower field. See the beautiful mountains in the distance.
On Thursday morning, we toured the Agricultural School, learning about the crops they grow and animals they raise.Members of our team assist the men constructing the two-story concrete-block dorm by screening sand for use in mortar and concrete beams. With shovels we tossed the sand up through the upright mesh screen.

. . from the Rectors Desk (continued) I wonder. I wonder because I think that the story reflects the fact that, from time to time, each of us are capable of experiencing "little" visions of the fullness of God in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. We can see the results of what God's fullness gives us, but we cannot "see" the fullness of God. It is too much for us to see. But it is not too much for us to experience and to share together. May you experience the transfiguring power of God when you expect it the least and when you need it the most. --Stephen

Pan Mass Challenge 2008 - Riding to Honor Cancer Surivivors and Angels (continued)
With your permission, we'll add your names and stories to the slide show and honor roll on our PMC Web Site, (www.teamavanti.googlepages.com) -- please take a look at the site or the slideshow through the picture (of John's Mom & Helga) below.
We know the names of some we are riding to honor. My mom and her best friend Helga lost their battles with cancer. Rob's mother, Sue, and father- in-law Bob beat cancer, but his dear friend Ev did not. We've contemplated the challenges faced by friends and family of Meg Pierce, Bill Symonds, Carolyn Ellis, John Bulbrook, Anne Ruggles, John Sallay, Maggie Tyler, Sally Malconian, Judy Campos, Bill Poduska, Mary King, Sarah & Ned Rossiter, and Ted Rhoads
We will be riding to honor their friends, and all the people you share with us. If you can do that, FANTASTIC! Thank you! The more the better.
If you have a moment, we'd love to share with you the moving experience that is the PMC and hear about the people in your life who we could think of while we ride. Please call either of us anytime, or let us know a good time to reach you.
Please be a part of our ride in any way that works for you.
