SUMMER WORSHIP PATTERNS

As the school year draws to a close, diverse summer patterns including vacations, weekend travel and family time spent at summer homes provide a welcome break from many a hectic schedule during the academic year. 

Church services here at St. Peter's are at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM during the summer (and all year 'round).  The 8:00 AM service is a celebration of Holy Communion using the Rite II text of the Book of Common Prayer. This service is held in the chapel and does not include music.  Parishioners of all ages are welcome for this 45 minute long service.  The 10:00 AM service is a celebration of Holy Communion with congregational hymns and utilizes the "summer" altar which is placed at the top of the choir steps.  The Summer Service booklet this year makes use of one of the prayers of consecration from A New Zealand Prayer Book.  The Anglican Church in New Zealand  published this authorized prayer book about twenty years ago, and it utilizes language and imagery which can help renew our awareness of the meaning of the familiar words.  The traditional text of the Lord's Prayer is included.  Both services include a brief homily or sermon.

When you and your family are in town for a weekend, come join us for a relaxed summer worship service.  When you are away, consider finding a nearby church of a Sunday morning, taking the opportunity to give thanks for God's many gifts we so easily take for granted.  Please travel safely and enjoy!

Summer hours: The church office is opened  Tuesday - Friday, 9-3. Stephen is also available on Monday's at the Rectory office (781-899-3071) or by email (sovoysey@comcast.net).

Missing!! Blue and white tablecloths! We used to have at least 20 tablecloths for parish events - we're down to 3. Did you take one home to wash (thanks!)? Did you borrow one? If you have one, please return it to the kitchen. No questions asked!
 
Your presence is enough! Volunteers are needed to visit with patients in hospice care. The end of life can be a lonely time, or a time filled with reminiscence, laughter and peace. Make a difference in someone's life in an hour a week. Please call Alice Hutter, West River Care Volunteer Coordinator, at 339-225-5934, or at the main office number, 781-707-9586, to find out more.

Are There More Opinions Out There?

Last week, we asked "What other features should we incorporate into the eKeys?" and then listed  four ideas. We received several thoughtful inputs by email to thanks@stpetersweston.org and we would be pleased to hear from you, as well.

Please consider the suggestions below for enhancements for the newsletter and share your preferences and recommendations.

1. "My Turn," in which parishioners share reactions, thouughts, and recommendations based on the thoughts and feelings they had in response to the week's readings, sermon, or interactions with other parishioners during the week.
(Note: early feedback does not support this idea.)
2. "Where's the Spirit," in which parishioners share how the Holy Spirit has been present in their lives recently.
(Note: early feedback supports this.)
3. "Why I Do What I Do," in which parishioners share why they are involved in particular ministries at St. Peter's.
(Note: early feedback strongly supports this.)
4. And how do you like the image at the top with tulips????
(Note: early positive feedback outnumbers requests for traditional imagery, with a request for "more summery images."  How are the blueberries :)
We'll plan to share the ideas we receive and solicit ongoing feedback (maybe even through a survey when there's "critical mass.")
