SUMMER WORSHIP PATTERNSAs the school year draws to
a close, diverse summer patterns including vacations, weekend travel
and family time spent at summer homes provide a welcome break from many
a hectic schedule during the academic year. Church services here
at St. Peter's are at 8:00 AM
and 10:00 AM during the summer (and all year 'round). The
8:00 AM service is a celebration of Holy Communion using the Rite II
text of the Book of Common Prayer.
This service is held in the chapel and does not include music.
Parishioners of all ages are welcome for this 45 minute long service.
The 10:00 AM service is a celebration of Holy Communion with congregational
hymns and utilizes the "summer" altar which is placed at the top
of the choir steps. The Summer Service booklet this year makes
use of one of the prayers of consecration from A New Zealand Prayer
Book. The Anglican Church in New Zealand published this
authorized prayer book about twenty years ago, and it utilizes language
and imagery which can help renew our awareness of the meaning of the
familiar words. The traditional text of the Lord's Prayer is
included. Both services include a brief homily or sermon.
When you and your family are
in town for a weekend, come join us for a relaxed summer worship service.
When you are away, consider finding a nearby church of a Sunday morning,
taking the opportunity to give thanks for God's many gifts we so easily
take for granted. Please travel safely and enjoy! |
Outreach: Last Call for Volunteers for B-SAFE
B-SAFE Program, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, June 30-July 03
This summer, St. Peter's will serve as a partner church for one week as part of a larger effort of the Episcopal Diocese to serve over 350 children and teens at 6 sites in the Boston area in a six week summer day camp. The B-SAFE program provides academic enrichment, sports, field trips, good food, community, and a safe place for kids, plus jobs for older teens. Last summer, over 40 parishioners participated in a week-long sponsorship of B-SAFE, and it was a wonderful, enriching experience. Partner churches provide a week of food (lunch and snack) at one site plus organize and fund a field trip on the last day of the week (which will be Thursday, July 3). St. Stephens will provide for 60 middle school students, and jobs for 10 counselors. Please help make this program a success, while investing in the lives of youth, and give some time. Contact Ron Corley or call me at 617 512-9610 to volunteer of get more information.
PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING US A HAND! IT ONLY TAKES A FEW HOURS TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE! You can help shop, prepare a lunch or snack (evening or AM), help deliver and serve the food, or help on the field trip.

Are There More Opinions Out There?
Last week, we asked "What
other features should we incorporate into the eKeys?" and then listed four ideas. We received several thoughtful inputs by email to thanks@stpetersweston.org and we would be pleased to hear from you, as well.
Please consider the suggestions below for enhancements for the newsletter and share your preferences and recommendations.
1.
"My Turn," in which parishioners share reactions, thouughts, and
recommendations based on the thoughts and feelings they had in response
to the week's readings, sermon, or interactions with other parishioners
during the week. (Note: early feedback does not support this idea.) 2. "Where's the Spirit," in which parishioners share how the Holy Spirit has been present in their lives recently. (Note: early feedback supports this.) 3. "Why I Do What I Do," in which parishioners share why they are involved in particular ministries at St. Peter's. (Note: early feedback strongly supports this.) 4. And how do you like the image at the top with tulips???? (Note: early positive feedback outnumbers requests for traditional imagery, with a request for "more summery images." How are the blueberries :) We'll
plan to share the ideas we receive and solicit ongoing feedback (maybe
even through a survey when there's "critical mass.")
If any of the preceeding ideas struck you as interesting, please send an email to thanks@stpetersweston.org (which goes to the entire eKeys publishing team). That would also confirm that someone is reading the newsletter.
