It's almost embarassing to introduce this too easy yet delicious way to cook your veggies!

Jill Gordon pictureObesity is once again in the news with a New Study (See also Let Us HEALTH You Alerts).  Of course America is still obese.  An overwhelming 1 out of 3 people in the states of Mississippi and Louisiana are obese.  Then, in the states with the least amount of obesity such as Colorado and Hawaii, there is still an alarming 1 out of 5 people reported to be obese.  While these numbers are sobering, a very encouraging report came out this week talking about how Childhood Obesity Laws are Paying Off (See also Let Us HEALTH You Alerts).  Yes, tightening the belts on what can be sold in school cafeterias is indeed contributing to smaller waistlines with healthy alternatives for our children. However, make it your responsibility as well.  The next time you need a quick bite at 7-Eleven, grab an apple, banana or nuts instead of a muffin or donuts.  When you have more time, be sure to shop the perimeter of the grocery store.  Make it a habit for you and your children on a day-to-day basis to go "healthier" 80% of the time.  Stick to one-ingredient foods and save the sweets for those really special occasions so you appreciate them more.  That way you'll get to enjoy the best of both worlds-feel better and more energized, but not deprived.  Do you know someone who wants to be a part of the percentage of non-obese Americans?  I am happy to speak with them for a Free Initial Consultation
In Let Us HEALTH You Matters, I will talk about what happened when I recommended a boy give up one food that changed his life.

"You Changed My Life"

He couldn't remember when he didn't suffer from chronic migraine headaches and asthma.  He couldn't be without his inhaler as he used it an average of 3 times a day.  He saw every doctor and was put on a garden variety of pain medications for his migraines.  They even thought he may have had a brain tumor and  underwent a multitude of diagnostic tests that ended up being negative.  Poked and prodded for blood more times than he could count,  they tried to figure out "what was wrong with him."  As his asthma worsened, so did his migraines and his

wheat free zone immune system.  He caught everything under the sun and was treated with every type of antibiotic as a result.  The kid was 16 years old and just plain sick of being sick.  My daughter, Jennifer, told me how miserable he was and asked me to speak with him.  He told me his story and I asked him if anyone ever talked to him about what he ate.  Jennifer's friend looked at me questioningly and answered no. After finding out his diet consisted mostly of bagels, breads,  pasta, pizza and the like, I told him about wheat making some people sick.  He was pretty surprised.  I said that wheat allergies were a common trigger for asthma and migraines.  Not sure if he was buying it, I told him to try eliminating wheat for a week to see if it helped.  Jennifer's friend said, "OK," in that way 16-year olds do when they seem to yes you.  That was Memorial Day of this year.  I was taken aback 2 weeks later when I saw him next and he told me about his summer and, "By the way, I haven't had to use my inhaler for the past week and a half."  Whoa!  He said he stopped the wheat and his asthma and headaches stopped almost immediately.  I then told him about a good quality supplement that would help boost his immune system.  Two weeks after that, the friend said he felt so much better, had a ton of energy and was so much happier.  A week after that, he was so excited that he got rid of a cold for the first time on his own.  Not understanding, I was told that he felt the cold coming on and instinctively pumped more of the supplement I had suggested (nice job!) and then he felt his immune system fight something off for the first time.  The boy explained that in the past, any cold got into his lungs and turned into something more and was immediately put on antibiotics.   He was just pumped to finally realize that there was nothing wrong with him, he just had an intolerance to wheat.  The kid was finally in control of his body.  Kids are funny that way.  They don't over analyze things the way adults do.  He thanked me for changing his life.  He said it's easier than he thought.  When asked what to tell others that are in his shoes, he said, "You might as well try it.  You have nothing to lose."  So simple and from a 16-year old kid.  I couldn't have put it better myself.
