Happy 50th to my amazing husband, Mike! While we did celebrate his birthday last week, he is not at the 50 year point yet. The real achievement is that he has officially lost 50 pounds in less than 5 months. How did he do it? First, he was mentally ready. Mike said he was just so sick of feeling sluggish, didn't like what he saw in the mirror and people around him were losing weight, so why not him. The changes were that he cut out the sugar, cleaned up and limited the starches he ate and began his daily doses of Green Drinks. Mike feels so good right now that he's still pushing to lose more. He says that the funny thing is that people ask him when he's going to go "off his diet." He reflects that he is so energized, why would he ever go back to eating the food that made him feel tired and overweight? Plus, Mike has said "goodbye to the fat guy" forever and vows never to go there again as this is a lifestyle that's easy to maintain. Mike uses the 80/20 rule to stay on track. Eat the fuel that's intended for your body 80% of the time so there's no guilt of indulging once in a while (20% of the time). It's all about creating a lifestyle that's healthy but with some flexibility. In truth, the comfort foods that Mike used to enjoy such as breads, bacon and pizza don't even appeal to him anymore. His cravings have been diminished as his body has been brought to balance. Congratulations to Mike as well as so many others who have enhanced their lifestyles by making better choices and are now feeling great!
