Lerner New Music New College's 14th season will showcase a brilliant array of international artists in its five-concert subscription series, and will offer more educational events and more free performances by New College students, faculty and alumnae/i than ever before.

Kicking off the 2012-13 season will be Third Coast Percussion (Sept 22), a Chicago-based quartet that will perform music of the legendary John Cage in celebration of the composer's 100th birthday. Other guest artists for the season include improvisational pianist Marilyn Lerner Toby Twining Music (January 19), vocalist/composer Toby Twining and his ensemble (April 20), and the JACK Quartet (Nov 17), which will perform compositions by New College graduates who have earned recognition in the world of contemporary music. Free Artist Conversations will be held the day before four of this year's performances.

Ballestin and Allen New College of Florida student Lucas Ballestin is finishing up his summer internship at Robert Allen Law in Miami by coordinating the annual Miami-Dade Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. This summer, Ballestin worked as the Bates-Meyer Intern in Corporate Responsibility at the boutique international law firm owned by New College alumnus Robert Allen. Ballestin is a fourth-year student from Westin, Fla., working on a triple area of concentration in economics, history and philosophy.

Robert Allen Law has maintained a long-standing commitment to this regional cleanup effort, which is part of the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup initiative. For more than a decade, thousands of residents and visitors in the Miami-Dade area have volunteered each year on more than 40 beaches along the county's coast.
