August is off to a good start for New College of Florida, which once again finds itself highly ranked by some of the country's leading arbiters of a quality higher education - Forbes, Fiske and Newsweek/The Daily Beast.

At
Forbes, New College landed the no. 15 spot on its "Top 100 Best Buy Colleges for 2012," a list with five military service academies and three tuition-free colleges in the top eight. Last year New College garnered the no. 16 spot. Only two other Florida public schools (the University of West Florida and Florida State University) made the top 20 best value list.
Fiske Guide to Colleges released its 2013 edition, in which New College was included as one of the 300+ "best and most interesting colleges and universities in the United States." New College is referenced as a "fast rising star" and "a great bargain." New College's listing begins with, "The mere existence of New College of Florida is proof that it's possible to find success through individualism." It ends with, "Without a Geek scene, grades or crazy football games, NCF is definitely not your typical southern institution. But the eccentricity doesn't impede students' academic motivation, or their love of learning... 'Come here to learn what

you like, how you like it,' says one Humanities major.'"
Newsweek & The Daily Beast, in partnership with College Prowler, announced their college rankings for 2012, naming New College the 16th most liberal school in America. New College is in good company in this group of 25 top liberal colleges in America. Also on the list are Brown, Brandeis, Pitzer, Reed, Swarthmore, Bard, Grinnell, Vassar, Smith, Hampshire, Oberlin and Sarah Lawrence.
