Two recent (May 2012) graduates of New College of Florida will travel to Spain to teach on Spanish Government English Language Teaching Assistantships for 2012-2013. Kristen Michelle Leahy, an anthropology major from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., will teach in the region of Andalucia. Rebecca Ryan Keenan, an economics student from Pelham, New York, has been assigned to a secondary school in Cartagena, Spain.  | | Rebecca Ryan Keenan |
The eight-month term requires a 16 to 20 hour commitment each week; work is supplemented by a stipend. Since 2000, five New College students have received the prestigious teaching certificates from Spain. Another 20 students have been awarded teaching assistantships for France and Japan. Read more
