NMC Horizon Project
In partnership with the Marcus Institute for Digital Education in the Arts (MIDEA), the NMC is pleased to release the NMC Horizon Report > 2011 Museum Edition. This report, the second in the NMC Horizon Project Museum series, examines emerging technologies for their potential impact on and use in education and interpretation within the museum environment.

The release of the print version of the report is occurring at 4 pm EST tomorrow in a showcase session at the 2011 Museum Computer Network Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. But you, our dear NMCers, officially get the first glimpse of the full electronic version! Watch the short video above to find out which six technologies are facilitating exciting advances across the museum sector.

We'd also like to acknowledge that this report is made possible by the generous support of the Edward and Betty Marcus Foundation.

CBLi Report Cover Challenge Based Learning
It's a big month for NMC publications! The NMC just officially released Challenge Based Learning > The Report from the Implementation Project. In partnership with Apple Education, the NMC has studied the impact of this multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to leverage the technology they use in their daily lives to solve real-world problems. The results, as conveyed in this report, are extraordinary. Both the participating teachers and students became more engaged, active learners.

NMC Summer Conference

The NMC Summer Conference series has been as rich and robust as the host cities themselves. Most recently we've lived it up in L.A. and mingled in Madison, and in 2012, we'll have a ball in Boston. Now, we want to hear from you on which city you'd like to call home for the NMC Summer Conference in June, 2013. We have some fantastic options in mind, so let us know by December 9 where you'd prefer to soak up edtech knowledge (and some sunshine!). And, to get even more pumped up, check out the Five Minutes of Fame video above from the 2011 NMC Summer Conference at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

NMC Community

The NMC Voice, our YouTube video series, is one of the best ways to stay up to date on everything happening in the NMC Community. The most recent episode covered all the excitement of November, including the NMC Photo Safari. Every episode, we feature one institution's brilliant project, course, or initiative in a segment called "Your Voice." This month, we shared St. Edward's innovative, game-based Global Social Problems course. In the next episode, we're featuring.... well, it could be YOU!

Just shoot us an email at communications@nmc.org to submit your story.

NMC Virtual Worlds

Let's Talk Sustainability, created by Global Kids, is an intensive youth development program that supports high school youth to develop expertise regarding sustainability, online broadcasting, and virtual world construction. Their talk show is virtual, filmed before a live studio audience with TreetTV in Second Life. Global Kids is looking for audience members for the talk shows, which will be aired through December 2011. They would like all educators in Second Life to consider bringing their students to be a part of the audience.
