A Welcome from our Principal- Ms. Vecchione
|
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year here at Guilford
Elementary! I am delighted to be part of the Guilford
Elementary School community, and I look forward to working with each student, parent, and staff member this year. Our staff has worked very hard to prepare for an exciting year and to build upon the tradition of excellence our school has established.
Our school is one that is committed to the individual needs of our students, and the collective pride in our diverse community. The most critical part of our programming is a belief that "literacy is the foundation of every child's education" and a conviction that "all" children can learn. I am so encouraged by the encounters I have had with staff, students, and parents thus far - what an outstanding community of dedicated professionals and wonderful families! I look forward to working with all of you in order to forge creative opportunities for service learning as we strengthen our students' character and integrity.
Our school expectations and standards are high, but we believe that excellence is the only way! I hope you will take time this year to engage in a meaningful partnership with your principal and our school. It is the relationship between the school, parents, and community members that help to keep us strong. I want to encourage everyone to take an active role in their child's education by communicating regularly with their teacher, attending school events, joining the PTA, and reading with your child daily. Together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish!
It is my priority to be accessible to all stakeholders in our school. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at vecchik@gcsnc.com or reach me by phone at (336).316.5844. Through high academic standards and a caring school environment, we will continue to chart a course of excellence!
Sincerely,
Kris Vecchione

A Welcome from our PTA President- Ms. Frizzell
|
Greetings and Welcome to the new school year at Guilford Elementary! I am excited and humbled to once again partner with you as we continue our journey as a PTA. Ask anyone and they will tell you at Guilford our students are the best because of the support of our parents, staff and community working together as a team. I say that with pride because last year you really worked hard. Now, I can't believe it is already time for us to gear up for yet another great year. This year we look forward to going all out with "Cheetah pride" as we help the staff prepare our students to achieve higher reading and math scores. How can we do that you may ask? Here is the answer: invest your time and talents. In this economy we know that it takes a two income family and little time is left for other things. This year we are not asking for a lot of time but instead support by helping us advocate for your child. This can be done by joining PTA. Taking the 1st step down this road of success will allow us to promote and fund programs like our accelerated reading program. We will start the year off with our 1st fundraiser on the 28th of August. Also our 1st general PTA meeting will be on September 18 at 6:00 pm. Come out and meet our new principal and vice principal as well as learn about the new Common Core curriculum. I look forward to seeing what you can do to help support all our students at Guilford Elementary. As always please feel free to contact me at our PTA email: guilfordelementarypta@yahoo.com. Sincerely,
Annetta Frizzell GES PTA President 2012-2013
