EU Health Claims* for Minerals - Positive List Published! |
|
On 16 May 2012, the European Commission, from more than 44000 applications, approved a list of 222 health claims permitted on food, published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OFJEU).
A number of the approved claims apply to minerals and phrases like "Zinc strengthens the immune system", "Iron supports performance capability", and "Calcium for strong bones" will now be used increasingly to market foods and food supplements in the EU.

* 'Health Claims' is the term typically used for health-related claims on food. Health claims indicate that there is a link between a food product, or one of its components, and personal health. |
