Celebrate Portland Pride with CAP!
|
It's that time of year again when we show our Pride! This year's Portland Pride is from June 15 - 17th. You can join CAP for the celebrations in a variety of ways:
Waterfront Booth - Saturday & Sunday, June 16 & 17,
Noon - 6pm
CAP's booths at the Waterfront will have crazy fun activities and all are FREE! Stop in for a quick photo shoot with Pivot, register for AIDS Walk, and see if you can find Waldo. That's right. Waldo, of Where's Waldo? fame. He will be hidden somewhere in the crowd at the Waterfront. Find him, take a picture, and return to the CAP booth with this proof to be entered into a drawing for five chances to win a $100 gift card! It'll be Pride's largest manhunt.
Parade - Sunday, June 17th
Step-off at 11:30am - Meet at Pivot at 10am
Love Parades? So do we! Walk with us during the Pride Parade, and feel the love! Line-up begins in the Pearl District,

CAP's 2011 Flash Mob Dancers

and the Parade steps off at 11:30am, but we like to meet first at Pivot around 10am. Make a sign, create your own tee shirt (bring a white tee shirt, and we'll provide the decorations), or just chat and enjoy coffee & donuts! We'll head out from there to our designated parade spot (to be announced -- check our web site for details as we get closer).

Dance in the Parade
Plus, if you're prone to dance suddenly, you can learn the CAP Flash Mob Dance, which we will perform periodically along the parade route. To Join CAP staff and volunteers who are dancing Flash-Mob-Style, contact Mary for practice information.

Pride Block Parties

Have fun at a block party AND support CAP at the same time! Both of these block parties help raise money for CAP.
ScandalsPDX is hosting the 8th Annual TAKING PRIDE ON STARK Block Parties. Stark Street will be closed between 10th and 11th from the afternoon of Friday June 15th through the late evening of Sunday June 17th. The weekend will be filled with live music, DJs and special guest performances. Click here for more information.
Big Bang! is another Pride block party on June 17th, complete with Drag Tour bus! Hosted by Hamburger Mary's, it's a day of Pride taking place in the lot on NW 5th and Couch. Watch the Parade, play some games, eat great food! Click here for more information.

AIDS Walk Portland

AIDS Walk Portland 2012 is just around the corner -- are you registered yet? On Sunday, September 23rd, over 10,000 walkers will descend on Pioneer Courthouse Square for one of Portland's biggest and most popular events. Complete with snacks, hydration stations, a band, and a DJ, this event is fun for all ages and makes the fight against HIV/AIDS possible. Join a team, start a team, or simply walk so you can Register, Raise Funds, and Walk with us on Sept 23rd.
