Hunger Action Week Food Drive
|

| | Boeing Employees Outside Sam's Club |
A group of volunteers from the Boeing Company's Black Employees Association took advantage of last month's United Way-sponsored Hunger Action Week to conduct a food drive on behalf of EFP. The drive took place on Saturday, March 19th at the Renton Sam's Club.
On that single day, they were able to collect an incredible 4,500 pounds of much-needed food.
One of the volunteers remarked on how "encouraging it was to see how many and how much people are willing to give," while another said "giving three hours of my time was gratifying, what a small price to pay for the reward and benefit others who are not as fortunate."
Interested in conducting a food drive at your school, place of business, or place of worship? It's easier than you might think.
EFP will provide flyers, donation barrels, and donation pickup. You provide the heart and hands that ensure success!

March Service Levels | |
In the Month of March, EFP delivered 2,308 emergency grocery bags to our distribution partners countywide. This brings the total for the first quarter of 2011 to 5,939, just about the same as the same period last year.
If the trend continues, 2011 will be another year of historically high requests for food assistance. And with your help, EFP will be there there to lend a helping hand. |
|
Foundation Support | |
March also saw some fabulous shows of support from local charitable foundations. EFP was the recipient of a $3,000 donation from Lawyers Helping Hungry Children, a generous $15,000 grant from the Safeco Foundation, and $50,000 from the Norcliffe Foundation - half for 2011 and the other half for 2012.
We are deeply grateful for all our supports as, together, we continue our nearly 35 year mission of helping to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. |
