John Paul II becomes the fastest ever to be beatified - edging Mother Teresa by a few days. The first miracle is documented - the healing of a French nun from Parkinson's Disease - so the beloved pope will be deemed worthy of veneration.

Greetings!

Our topic this month: Do vs. Done and Evangelizing Catholics. There are only two kinds of religions in the world: those that provide their adherents with things they must "do" in order to merit heaven, and Christianity which proclaims a "done" salvation through the finished work of Jesus Christ. In this issue, evangelist Bill Jackson discusses issues critical to success in evangelizing not only Catholics, but any religionists/doers. Bill's article is on the "DADPAD" method of evangelism - Discover a Do, Present a Done. Like the article? You can also READ Bill's book on Do/Done.

What is a Catholic taught to do to achieve heaven? That is the topic of my article this month: The Infinite Do-Loop of Catholicism.

In the news, the elevation of John Paul II to sainthood passed a major hurdle with the publication of his case on January 14th and the simultaneous scheduling of his beatification. Ex-priest Richard Bennett (www.bereanbeacon.org) presents an article on the alleged holiness of this most famous of Popes.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who ask you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meakness and fear" (1 Pet. 1:15). I pray that each of us may be used by God to present the gospel this month in a spirit of gentle confidence in the salvation that has been accomplished once and for all by our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ.

In Christ,

DADPAD - Discover a DO; Present a DONE
by Bill Jackson
The Work is Done!
IT IS FINISHED!

The apostle Peter tells us that evangelism must be done in a spirit of humility. We are not to win arguments, but rather make disciples. Bill Jackson, a missionary to Ireland for many years, shares examples of how by listening, asking questions, and presenting Scripture, a person can share the faith in a way that honors God.

Catholicism gives "lip service" to grace, but devolves into a religion of "Do." Catholics must merit heaven. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church: "Moved by the Holy Spirit, we can merit for ourselves and for others all the graces needed to attain eternal life." Here is a list of what a Catholic is told to do to enter heaven.

John Paul II: Blessed in the Sight of God? by Richard Bennett
Berean BeaconThe man who is responsible for the canonization of more saints than all other Popes combined is himself being officially beatified in May. Beatification declares a person to be worthy of veneration and blessed in the sight of God. Catholics will thus be encouraged to pray to him and venerate him because of his holy life. Richard Bennett investigates the qualifications of John Paul II for this special honor.
