Welcome them back with listening hearts and a readiness to embrace their passion. Connecticut Congregation Digs Deep to Support ELCA Well Project
It started with a trickle when the Sunday school donated its Lenten offerings. Then it began to flow more freely when the confirmation class and the Women of the ELCA decided to pitch in. And by the time the youth group got involved and the fundraising activities were turned on full force, it turned into a torrent of giving.
When it was all said and done, members of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Fairfield, Conn., had donated more than $3,200 to ELCA World Hunger's 100 Wells Challenge -- enough to pay for a well that will serve 500 families, and then some. Read more.

Deaconess Community Offers Tuition-Free Course on Servant Ministry
Explore the role of servant ministry Jan. 14-18, 2013, with the Deaconess Community of the ELCA at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. This free course introduces the theological and social contexts of diaconal ministry throughout history, provides an opportunity to discuss vocation and diaconal calling, and awards three hours of academic credit.
