Generous Congregations Overwhelm LSS with Bedding, Towels for Refugees at Synod Assembly

Donations from Our Saviour's, Fairfield, Conn.

Talk about Doing What Matters! This spring, when Lutheran Social Services (LSS) asked congregations to donate towels and bedding to help it furnish apartments for the nearly 1,000 refugees it's welcomed over the past year, it was overwhelmed by the response. Nearly 40 congregations brought what amounted to five van-loads of donations to the LSS In-Gathering at the 2012 Synod Assembly in early June.

House of Prayer, Hingham, Mass., itself, sent 20 bundles that took up the entire trunk and back seat of the midsize Toyota Camry driven by Vicar Mary Hansen-JoyceClick here to learn more about Hingham's gift and for a list of the other churches that brought donations to "Do What Matters" through LSS.
