Youth/Young Adult Assembly Voting Members 21 and Under Youth and Young Adult voting members 21 and under are invited to a special lunch Friday, June 8, at 12 noon, prior to the opening of the Synod Assembly. The group will learn about the Assembly and the voting process for synod bishop. Together, they will discern a question to be asked of the candidates at the Noon Saturday Candidate's Forums. If you are a Youth or Young Adult voting member 21 or under or know of one from your congregation, please have them register for the free lunch here. |
Bio Form for Synod Bishop Nominees Now Online
Assuming that there is no election on the first or second ballots for synod bishop, the top seven candidates will participate in a forum Friday evening, June 8, at 7:30, answering questions which came from the Mission Area Assemblies earlier this spring. Additionally, before this forum, those top seven candidates will have to complete a biography form which will be duplicated and handed out to all voting members by the close of the forum. Click here to read the form to see what information will be needed in a relatively brief period of time. In accordance with synod policy, the final three candidates for synod bishop will be subject to a background check. |

Both the report of the Nominating Committee and the large document containing pre-assembly reports from Bishop Margaret G. Payne and other synod leaders, as well as the agenda, assembly rules, synod constitution, financial reports and the 2013 compensation guidelines, have been posted to the synod website. Bible study on Ruth Now Available

Seafarers & International House
Seafarers & International House, an ELCA social ministry organization and ministry partner of the New England Synod, announces two new position openings for its mission to seafarers and sojourners: a mission advocate and an Internet media intern.
The mission advocate is a part-time position of approximately 15-20 hours per week, with approximately three-four hours spent in the offices of Seafarers & International House at 123 East 15th St., New York, NY 10003. The mission advocate shall be responsible for raising awareness of the needs of seafarers and sojourners, telling their stories and serving as an advocate for them on behalf of Seafarers & International House.
The Internet media Intern also is a part-time position of approximately 10 hours per week and is tailored for an undergraduate or graduate college student, working from their campus. The Internet media intern shall be responsible for creating Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other Internet media platforms.
