Mission Trip to Honduras Is Hard Work, but Rewarding

From April 16-23, two dozen people from 12 congregations (including 10 synod congregations) traveled to Honduras for a week-long mission trip organized by the Global Mission Team of the New England Synod. It was not what you'd call a typical "spring break." In Yuscarán, the group continued construction of a new worship space , which began in 2005. It was hard work, but a rewarding experience, nevertheless. Read more to learn how deeply this experience affected these Lutherans serving as God's hands, doing God's work in Honduras.

Love and Prayer = Healing at Gloria Dei
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Providence, R.I., is an urban congregation fighting poverty and injustice in a city which has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, especially among those who are Hispanic. This week, on the synod website, we continue our series on the ministry of urban congregations with the story of Michael and his Gloria Dei family, navigating together through times of desperate illness in the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit. Read the story. And don't forget to check out Gloria Dei's new website to see the fruits of its ministry and to learn ways to support it.
