April issue features 'Joseph's Coat' and Kelly Fryer
The April issue of The Lutheran, the ELCA's monthly magazine, includes an article about one of our synod's mission starts -- Joseph's Coat of Many Colors Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, Conn. -- which is wrapping a needy community in care. Also, just in time for Easter, is an article by Kelly Fryer, "Today is the day," who advises us to "start living like you have nothing to lose." Writes Fryer, "Easter isn't remarkable because the Son of God was raised from the dead. What is truly amazing is when we act like we believe that's true." Fryer's organization, A Renewal Enterprise, Inc. (ARE), is working with our synod's Doing What Matters team. The issue also offers an individual and group study guide for "Today is the day," free for print and web subscribers. You also can search the magazine's website for study guides for Easter from past issues. Not a subscriber? The Lutheran is the best way to keep connected to the ELCA -- locally, nationally and globally. Why not subscribe today -- so you can read all about Joseph's Coat, and ponder what Fryer has to say.

Training Institute to Equip Believers April 13-15 in Baltimore
Register by March 30
Looking for a way to move your congregation from a paradigm of maintenance to one of mission, from membership to discipleship? "Go, Baptize, Make Disciples" is a new training institute for pastors, worship leaders and educators, such as directors of spiritual formation, being offered this year in Baltimore, Minneapolis, and Spokane. March 30 is the deadline to register for Baltimore. As congregations seek to find ways to train and equip believers to live a life of discipleship, the catechumenate -- a process of faith formation and baptismal living practiced by Christians for centuries -- is being reclaimed by today's church. Pastors are invited to bring a team from their congregations to explore this gift of the early church and to learn how to introduce it to their faith communities. Learn more.
