  We are proud to announce that seniors Jordan Noble and Leah Selmek have been recognized as Semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship program, which is a part of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Pictured left.
Congratulations also goes to Mr. Tom Neubert, SFDHS' Athletic Director and Head Baseball coach, for being selected as the Upper Midwest Coach of the Year for the High School Baseball Coaches Association (BCA), and is up for National Coach of the Year for the BCA. He was the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association's selection for Ohio Coach of the Year, and is up for National Coach of the Year for the National Federation of High Schools as well. Neubert pictured below with his daughter after the 2012 State Championship game. 
Future Stallions in the Headlines! We welcome our 8th grade guests today, and throughout next week. We hope they experience the 'DeSales Difference' during their visit!

SPIRIT WEEK!
To pump the student body up for the big game next Friday (vs. Watterson!), we encourage all to participate in our annual Spirit Week. The festivities begin with Deck the Halls (each class will decorate their hallways) this Sunday. Freshmen and sophomores will decorate at noon, and juniors and seniors will decorate at 2pm. All students are welcome to join their classmates!
Theme days: Monday - In-uniform Jersey Day, Tuesday - In-uniform Purple Pride, Wednesday - In-uniform Tourists, Thursday - Out-of-uniform Pajama Day, and Friday - Out-of-uniform Stomp the Eagles T-shirts (if purchased). Stomp the Eagles t-shirts are on sale thru next week for $10; proceeds go to the alumni scholarship program.
Also, sophomore Sarah Richards, Make-A-Wish Team Captain, and the DeSales Cheerleaders will be holding a fundraiser to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation during Spirit Week. For a $1 donation, students can purchase a star to be hung on the wall at the main student entrance. The class who raises the most money, will receive a dress down day! If you are interested in purchasing a star or making a donation, please contact Sarah Richards.

Save the date: Tuesday, October 23, the Libraries for Liberia Foundation will be sponsoring a visit by 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee. She will be in town as the Keynote Speaker at a fund-raising event to be held at Otterbein's Cowan Hall. The event begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students 18 and under. Tickets are available online through TicketLeap or through the Libraries for Liberia Foundation website.

This event serves as one of the three event fundraisers for St. Francis DeSales High School co-curricular programs while at the same time provides a fun social gathering with friends. The evening offers live and silent auctions, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and a taste sampling of multiple rare wines and micro- breweries. We hope you will join us!

Parents of Varsity Athletes: remember that the Spirit Shop sells DeSales letter jackets. While you may also purchase these from two local retailers, the Spirit Shop is priced well below both of these stores and we believe that we use a manufacturer that makes a better looking jacket. While the price may vary slightly since the sport is priced on a per-letter basis, here is a cost comparison for you for a jacket for a student who letters in football from all three of your choices:

Do you want to know with what kind of love you should love your neighbor? With the same love with which God loves us. We must draw this love from the heart of the Eternal Father, so that it will be pure, firm, solid, constant and unchanging. Our love should not depend on a person's qualities or good fortune, nor should it be subject to the changes and dislikes that often occur in our relationships with others.
